Well, I submitted my purple and red Crusade to BGS with their November special (10 days) and grades popped today.

I'm EXTREMELY happy with the red, though a little curious about the purple.

Purple - Centering: 10, Corners: 9.5, Edges: 8, Surface: 9. Overall: 9.0

Red - Centering: 10, Corners: 9.5, Edges: 9.5, Surface: 9.5. Overall: 9.5

I now have a purple 8.5 and 9.0. Can't figure out the edges because the red and purple were both from Steve and they honestly looked like they would grade about the same on everything. I guess not.

With the red, 11 years later I finally have it and it graded very well I thought. Looks like that Jeter Crusade 10 is still the only one!

9.5 on the red is pretty sick. It's always good when a PC item grades well

Sure is, thanks!

The purple 8.5 found a [strike:22rsa4gq]victim[/strike:22rsa4gq] home, so I'll only have the 9. But that's ok!

A point was brought up to me by a fellow Griffey collector on the Griffey purples. On the back, on the right edge (could be the left 50/50 guess here) they all have some sort of "bubbling" going on. He's got a PSA 10 purple that has the bubbling. I don't know how it goes for others but that might be it.

I don't remember anything like that on this one I sent, but when it comes back I'll look again. Thanks!

Congrats on the grades, mine don't pop until 12/04 so I won't know. I've had a no luck grading purples either, both I have came back 9's and one I sold didn't look anywhere near a 9. Can't complain with a 9.5 red though.

Sweet- congrats on the red 9.5! You got the important grade on the important one so that what's...ah, important.

In getting ready to grade my Manny crusades w/PSA I'm not sure how they will grade with the edge issues they seem to have. I had seen one a while ago where it looked like about 1/3 of the bottom back edge on a Manny purple was peeled upward.

Otherwise these cards seem to grade very well (almost as important to consider as an individual card itself, I think). Out of 372 submitted to PSA (all colors) there are 115 PSA 10's (about 31%). There are 185 PSA 9's (49.7%). That means if you submit one of these in nice shape it's about an 80% chance to be a PSA 9 or 10. That's very high. Just another reason it's such an attractive set.

Congrats on your grades, especially the 9.5.

I just submitted mine but honestly the grades will mean nothing to me. Since they are PC, I don't care. 95% of the reason I got them graded was for protection a BGS slab provides.

Congrats on the Red 9.5! If you are like me, I assume you will be looking for gradeworthy purples to complete the BGS 9.5 and higher rainbow. Have fun! ;)

I agree. I was just hoping I would have all 3 as 9.5s, but 2/3 isn't bad at all!

Good stuff PJ!!

I'd love to send in my 3 Ripkens to get them in nice Gold slabs, but dang i'm scared to let them leave my grasp...

Now if anyone is doing any on the spot grading at any shows in the future, please let me know. ;)

I'm with you on this one Russ. Would be shatting bricks everyday they were away.

PJ, I also agree that 2/3 isn't bad. Congrats on the grades.

Thanks all, can't wait to have them back.

As for what's next on my list...I'm going to tackle Topps Tek. Hopefully.
