Nice 10 JP! I'm looking for poppage Thursday, a 10 would be cool. What do you think it was on the Razor metal that didn't get 9.5, surface?

Yep. And the sad part is, those were the best two I had, out of dozens.

I sent in 4 and got 2 9.5's and 2 9's so high grades are definitely possible

Interesting. They now have the auto grade on the back of the flip.

Now, the questions are....

Will sellers disclose the auto grade?

Does this make them not as important overall?

I think that's just because the Strasburg was a much thicker card. Notice the Reddick's Auto grade is on the front.

But either way, they could be phasing it to the back or doing it on some of them.

It's an interesting move, especially since we never really know the guidelines for 10 vs. 9 auto grades on many cards.

Personally, I would like to see the auto grade be either on the back, or gone all together.

I'm quite sure it is an inventory issue. That is, they ran out of the thicker slabs with the separate auto window and had to slab the card or eat the grading fees. It happens a few times a year, sometimes with base chrome autos.

BGS has never been known for its consistency on any level.

Well, I have always viewed auto grades as a scam for them to make more money. They also give some 9 and 8 auto grades out to crisp clean autos, which means they have no set guidelines.

I think they should get rid of the auto grade all together. You can see the auto and if you don't like it, then don't buy it. Plain and simple. Card quality and condition is much harder to decide with the naked eye.

I have a Topps Prime Cut Relic signature that was signed on the bat barrell and they put the autograph grade on the back too (somehow they gave it a 10, didn't think it would get that). All the other signatures I sent in the signature grade was on the front.Weird.
