BGS Question - Why do some auto grades show on the front and some on back?

Thicker cards and older holders are on the back.

Because sometimes BGS isn't smart enough to keep enough Auto Grade Chips in stock.

It's a mix of the first 2 replies to my knowledge. The older style labels had it on the back by design. Then several months ago they ran out of the auto grade squares and so a large chunk of cards were graded with the non auto labels and have the auto grade on back.

I've seen 2012 Bowman Chrone autos on ebay with auto grades on the back.

I had cards graded at the NSCC last year. they only slabs/labels they had on-site were those with auto grade on back, not separate. so if you wanted on-site grading you had to go with the auto grade on the back of the label.
