I should have read the first couple posts, I will admit that. But that doesn't change the fact that I think every product Razor has put out (baseball wise) has been complete garbage and I don't like how these cards look. I think they look like the old Team Best cards. Just my $0.2.
What would you like to see the cards look like?

Specific aspects, sets to compare to, etc...

Just curious.

Something that is visually appealing. In the end, I am only 1 person and in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter what I think. But I do believe the general population at the National will agree with me.
I understand that, but what sets to you currently find visually appealing and why?

I mean everyone has their own opinions on what sets look good, and what do not...so I'm just curious as to what sets you like...and therefore get a better idea of what you would like this set to look like.

Aside from the FCB logo, I really like the design. Instead of just saying "something visually appealing" why don't you come up with something constructive?

My only question..... why is it only prospects?? Is that how you want the board to be known?? Will a non prospector know that it isnt all about prospects... or will they just store the cards in a box with tons of other cards and never visit the site?

Baseball- Chrome, Sterling
Basketball- Exquisite, SP Authentic, SPX
Football- Exquisite, National Treasures
Hockey- Cup

I have a lot of 1/1 logos, super's ect. That is what I buy. You aren't going to get that quality in free cards, I understand that, but I just think they could look better.

Visually appealing to me = Simple design with large action shots AKA these cards....One of my favorite modern base card sets is 2004 Playoff Honors

Probably because they were the easiest and most cost effective to get licenses for.

I'm getting the feeling there is a Razor bias here. Chrome and Sterling have some of the blandest designs there are and you're buying the brand more than anything else with those products.

I don't collect things that don't have good secondary market value or at least look good. Therefor I don't collect or buy Razor cards. It is pretty simple.

Fair enough.

Clearly this isn't on the same level as any of those products in production cost. Working with foils, varnishes, Pantone spot colors etc would allow the set to "do more" - but for a free promotional set, people will be impressed with the overall quality I believe.

This is a photo-strong design which is what a segment of the collecting population looks for. Simple design, great photo.

Regardless, like every set, it isn't for everybody.

A lot of "stuff" on the front (NASCAR style) but understandably so since it is a promotion card and the point is to promote FCB and Razor

Clearing the MLB logoman a good idea/no brainer

Some will like and keep
Some will put in their bag of goodies with the rest of National items and never look at again

Overall, nice idea

Sorry if this is a stupid question but does a person need a player's approval to print cards of them? I only thought of that after reading the question about why no major leaguers

The thing here is the only way this set comes to be is because of Razor allowing FCB to use their player and CLC licenses. Without their cooperation there wouldn't be a set and that is why their logo is there. As far as the cards themselves, this set was put together by board members from the ground up. So for the sake of the board and this set, kick your Razor biases to the curb because they had little to do with it.

These players are Razor exclusives and have signed contracts to have Razor release cards using their images. That is why these are being released under the Razor banner.

Thanks Tall,
I was typing question while the answer was being posted.

Overall, nice job by the board members who helped put it together. Just remember to have thick skin. (Hey, wasn't that a popular bit of advice by some here?) Some already getting a bit defensive. Understandably so. One likes to protect and stand up for one's own work

If I were a patron and I personally received one at the National, it would be keepable.

I don't think anyone is being defensive...I certainly am not. I'm just curious.

I would rather critique something honestly than just blanket praise (which is no different than some of the blanket bashing once the Razor logo was applied).

Regardless, this set is to promote FCB and it will do that quite well...no matter what the cards look like.

I like the look of the cards, the only thing I don't like is the FCB logo. It is hard to read.

They look great. I like the FCB logo ,but I'm not sure I like the square it's in. Let me think on it.

Only problem I see is this now cementing this as a Razor board, also this promo does nothing for the less visited forums.

But with that said I think the design is sweet.

it cements nothing

the logo has to be there to show where the licensing came from

I am sure that other site you go to could have had a similar deal were they willing to fork out the money.

Not even worth it, some folks will only see it one way and will never see it any other way. His sole purpose here is to comment on every razor thread.
