I know it would have been much more costly and far more difficult to achieve, but this would have been a MUCH better idea if there were football, hockey and basketball player cards involved. Those are the forums that need the most attention/advertisement. FCB IS baseball... to reach out to those other collectors at the National would have done wonders for more "membership" on FCB.

Yeah, it would of been a great thing but..... I don't think you have any idea of the cost involved with doing such a thing. I don't think FCB's marketing budget would come close to allowing that. Keep in mind that no other web site will be handing out their own cards at the show.

After reading your response Scuba...
Why doesn't beckett?

Conflict of interest for them?

Because they don't need to.

I swear, most of you have the business sense of a gnat.

I didn't know Beckett was doing so incredibly well and are just content with the status quo. They have no room for improvement? Passing out promos on their end wouldn't help their message board and/or price guide membership? I am not pushing for them to do so but I just had a simple question after reading Talley's post. If Beckett would have passed out freebies at the National, would the message board be flooded with posts about what a poor business practice it was on their end to do so?? No!
I'm sure if I said the sky is blue you would have found a reason to dispute me.

You can buy Beckett at Walmart, that's pretty well established. That's all the promotion they need.

With the print media industry what it is today, handing out promos to drive people to Beckett's "new" website might not be that bad of an idea.

I'm still amazed that some view this set as a negative.

Just a bizarre study in assclownomics.

One could argue that driving people to their website could actually lose customers...
