Hamilton HR Derby....great 1st round but lost with 3 in the finals and 35 total. Abreu hit 4 less in round #1 and #41 total, and won.

A 21 one year old throwing 8 innings of 3 hit shutout ball is pretty big IMO. I am a big Giants fan though.

Ripken streak
McGwire/Sosa (magical then, even if meaningless 12 years later)
All-Star Game in Fenway Park with the announcement of the All-Century Team (was AWESOME!!!).
Sox over Yanks 2004 ALCS
Bonds breaking Aaron's record (again, meaningless now, but cool to see then)
Joe Carter WS homerun
Kirk Gibson WS homerun
Negatively - 1994 Tragedy (strike)

Those are just the ones that came to mind immediately.

Cal Ripken Jr consecutive games streak

McGwire/Sosa homerun chase

Astros going to World Series

Angels winning the World Series - this team deserves more in this underrated World Series classic. Unlike teams that won before them where whoever has the most money won the team was built through the minor league system. At the time they were 16th in the league payroll and rolling through teams in the playoffs that has more money than them was exciting.

White Sox winning the World Series - Chicago baseball can be winners something northside will never get to do

1988 World Series with Gibson HR and Orel Hershiser domination

Quake-Series. I was a kid and have relatives living in the Bay Area so this was a big deal. Watching the collapsed highways and fires from rupture gas lines scary enough

Watching/hearing players you watched live at minor league parks finally appearing on the MLB field as to say "They finally made it"

Most of whats already been said, but...

Straw's blast that bounced off the roof of the sky dome was impressive. Canseco's head bounce HR. The Unit vaporizing a bird.

-2003 Cubs postseason - Sosa's home run behind the little building in the stands and Bartman

-Sammy Sosa and cork-gate

-2001 World Series Game 7.

-The first games after 9/11/01 - a personal favorite for me is Sosa running into the outfield with the American flag.

In addition to those already mentioned.

So many memorable events, the ones I was actually at:

Jeff Bagwell's only career HR in Fenway
2008 All-Star Game - all 15 innings of it
The long standing ovation for Jaques Doucet, Montreal Expos Broadcaster, during their last home game in 2002 (when it was looking like it would be their last game ever).
Andre Dawson's 400th Career HR
Ichiro's 258th hit in 2004
Rafael Palmeiro's 3000th Hit
The George Brett Pine Tar game

My most memorable - 2004 Mariners/Rangers game at Safeco Field - the first game that I ever went to where it was just me and my dad.

A lot of memories revolve around Gwynn for some strange reason...

But putting biases aside, here's some of mine:

Mariner's run in 1995 was Magical.. I feel sorry for anyone not living in Seattle because you will never know the feeling that we all had during that time. Best sports moment ever! Griffey, Edgar, Randy, Cora...Those weeks at the end were amazing!

The McGwire/Sosa HR chase was fun

Reggie's three homers in 1977!!!

The Earthquake before the 1989 World series game will always be etched deeply...

Bonds season 73 HR record was better memory for me than Big Mac's 70...Not sure why.

Griffey's 8 game homer streak in 1993

Finally, as a kid, the All-star games were the absolute best. Nowadays, the games are stupid and boring, but back then they were the best! Just look at the line-ups and rotations for those teams in the 1970s! FULL of hall of famers! I remember Rod Carew (along with Reggie my pre-Gwynn favorite) hitting two triples in one game (78, I think), I remember the Cincinnati Reds dominating the line-up (deservedly so!) I remember Yaztremski's homer (1975?) and of course the 1979 All-Star game in Seattle (Two words: The Cobra)...I was just a kid, but the all-star memories are still more vivid as the World series.

Sorry if I went back too far! Last "so many" years to me means in my lifetime, I guess!!!
