Good day, gents. Turned the big 3-0 last Friday. To celebrate being on this planet for three decades, I made the purchase of a lifetime. Here is my new baby, and I'm never letting it go! This will be something I can pass down and hopefully this piece of history will remain in the family for a long long time. Thanks for looking fellas!

Pretty cool how it's so clean and clear. Is there any info or dating on when he could've signed it? Awesome pick up.

Thanks all! No word on when this could've been signed. Judging by the yellowing of the paper, it has to be at least 60 years old. If anyone has a guess given the autograph, please feel free to share some insights!

Is it just a small piece of paper? Nothing on the back?

Nothing like a nice Jackie auto to ring in the 30's. Great pickup and happy birthday!

Very cool! Definitely something that will only go up in value with his significance in society, let alone baseball.

Can't go wrong with a Jackie auto. That was the pinnacle of my Dodger auto collection when I got mine. The only thing that could come close now for me is one of the brief Dodger HOFers who are long gone (Ruth, H. Wilson, W. Robinson, Maranville, Brouthers) or maybe a Charles Ebbets or Jake Daubert.

There is a thread on Net54 talking about how some feel the Leaf Jackie RC could someday rival the 52 Mantle, mainly due to his significance to the game (where as Mantle was mainly just popular among Baby Boomers, who had the financial means to drive the prices way up). I think the scarcity of the 52 high numbers has a lot going for it, but I am not sure how common 1949 Leaf cards were either. Jackie (thankfully for me) was not a SP in the Leaf set, so that enabled me to afford one, unlike Paige. And this was well before Jackie was breaking 5 figures in PSA4.
