So who have been the biggest busts during this time span?

Just to clear things up, only guys with BC rookies are eligible and if you can list the biggest bust who had an auto and the biggest bust with a base card.

For me, its Matt Bush (auto). Yes, hes still young but for a #1 pick, hes not even a hitter now and come to think of it, where the heck is he?

Base card busts arent so easy because theres so many. But Jason Stokes comes to mind (insert large collection of Stokes cards).

I was thinking Gordon or Delmon but atleast they are in the Majors and putting up some numbers.

Easily Gordon. Also, Compared to where his auto was originally selling, I would say Chamberlain.

You guys saying Gordon really need to take a second look at his MLB numbers, especially at what he has done since being recalled from AAA this year. Obviously he has not performed to expectations so far in his young career, but to call him the biggest BC bust is laughable at best.

Matt Bush. Traded to Toronto before the end of Spring Training, I believe he was released with either some sort of drug nonsense transpiring or he was in some other legal troubles off the field. What a tremendous waste ...

I don't think they are saying his mlb career is a bust, from a cards perspective his hobby value was a bust...

That is obvious, but is true about the vast majority of the most hyped players from BC at release. Very few maintain release value. Obviously there are exceptions, but even players like Justin Upton and Clayton Kershaw who have had great MLB success are currently selling for less than BC release prices.

Why do people keep thinking Matt Bush was a great prospect? He was never a great prospect, the Padres just made one of the worst moves in draft history taking him, because of signability. Few (if any) had him close to the top of their board. He was never an elite prospect.

Delmon and Gordon are approaching bust territory, so I think it has to be them.

Before Laporta, Delmon Young was God on the message boards. I remember guys with huge stashes of the
guy. He has done NOTHING.

Alex Gordon's Ginter sketch 1/1 went for over 400 bucks, so I don't think everyone is on the bust train just
yet.

I remember one guy that had an insane amount of Delmon's Gold refractors. Pretty sure they wrote about it in an issue of Beckett.

Good call on the Bullington. It's a little older so some of you young'uns may not remember...

TRAVIS LEE!!!

He was in 98 Bowman, Chrome and Best. His cards (especially refs.) were HUGE!!

He stuck around for a while in the Bigs, but he never came close to being worth the 100s people were putting out for his stuff.

I have to go with Jays here and disagree with the thinking of most of the members here. To base your entire idea of what is a bust on how much other people will pay for a player seems silly (especially when their stuff still goes for more). You get players putting up decent numbers, playing everyday in the MLB, and in the case of Gordon being a GG Calibur defender...how can they be busts.

I would think someone more along the lines of my boy Justin Huber. Coming in as the top catching prospect in the draft got lots of run. Over 5 seasons has played 72 games with 3 teams (played for 4 total)

Gordon can still be a quality player. He just won't live up to his hype.

Some of us are going off the value of his cards at the highest level of hype. Thats a colossal downfall.
