I hear the Mets are looking at Mike Bordick again.

My main shift was simply due to the difficultly in moving Peavy. At this point, the Padres will probably be forced to agree to a trade for a smaller package than initially desired simply due to Peavy's no-trade clause. Any team that trades for Peavy knows that he is holding the cards, and the Padres want his salary off of the books.bigpops65 said:200lbhockeyplayer said:If Adrian Gonzalez is traded, expect a huge deal to please the San Diego fans. He is the "native son", and huge with the Mexican community down there so trading him would have to be a landslide deal for the future.
For me, I see Boston making the deal, and I would see a guy like Lars Anderson involved, along with some other big names. Again, it will take a huge multi prospect deal to land Gonzalez, and I would highly doubt that it involved any players with MLB service time, and MLB money.
More in reference to your first post: Why do you think he'll be traded now? I know before you were pretty sure he was staying in SD, and I tended to agree. And I also see Boston as the probable landing spot because of their prospect talent level. I was just curious as to why you changed your mind.
Also, if it is Boston, I could see Lars as a part of it, but then lower prospects. Definitely not any of the Bowden-Buchholz-Bard trio.

That said, if the Padres are 2 years away from competing (which is logical), they will probably be looking for high ceiling high-A to AA prospects to be ready within 2+ years. Gonzalez will clearly garner more interest and value than Peavy...so moving Peavy won't get them over the hump...but Gonzalez could certainly help reload that system.
I may not be right, but if I was Boston...I'd been in discussion for him.

He turned down the deal because it was the wrong Chicago team.
I can see him ending up here on the right side of town, and would be
more than willing to sacrifice Vitters, Fox, etc. in order to make it happen.

Then trade Huff for a frontline RP that can stick around for 2-3 years.
In 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014 (the lost to the stinkin' Reds in 2013) they win the WS!

Seiya said:Gonzalez isn't going anywhere, people barely show up now and if he's traded I doubt anyone will go to games anymore. Besides, he has two years after this one on his contract left, for a grand total of about 6 mil. And the new owner has already talked about giving him a new contract.
