Wow. The last trade of the offseason is a biggie.

So, as best I understand it now, ATL sends Kimbrel and BJ Upton to SD for Carlos Quentin, Cameron Maybin, Matt Wisler and Jordan Paroubeck

Padres are definitely in win-now mode. Hope to see them make the playoffs!

Does Wisler crack the rotation right away or not til' later this year?

Kimbrel seems to be a steep price to pay for dumping Upton on another team.

But still worth it. Melvin was just that bad a Contract...

KInda like the Phils are gonna have to dump Papelbon. Why pay a closer big bucks when you're (well) under .500?

San Diego just took the Braves with all the people they have no place or use for anymore. And the Braves got someone to take Melvin off their hands.

The Padres have been busy this offseason. The trades may not work out, but at least San Diego is doing something.

As a Padre fan since 1969, I am looking forward to this season.

Upton bros reunited again as well...they really should just consider themselves a package deal at this point.

Looks like the Braves are going to DFA Quentin right away also, taking him as part of the deal was just to offset some of Melvin's money

I don't like taking on Melvin's contract, but from a player only perspective, I like the deal.

San Diego has a pretty good bullpen now so hopefully many of their games will be reduced to seven innings.

So, why does trading Kimbrel make sense for the Braves?

Also, I'm very impressed with the Brave's brass for pulling in so many top quality arms to their system this winter/spring.

I see they picked up these guys:

Banuelos
Foltynewicz
Fried
Miller, Shelby
Thurman
Winkler
Wisler
Vizcaino

Anyone else?

And they already have Sims, Hursh, Fulenchek, Jenkins, and others.

That's a major haul of quality arms!

I'm guessing the Braves think highly of Paroubeck? I hit a few color refs of him in 2014 Bowman and didn't know what to make of him. I'm guessing he's a somewhat important part of that trade though.
