Possible Hanley and JJ is involved. Just rumors at this point as to who is involved but the Marlins/Orioles ARE indeed talking....

I'd be okay with giving up Machado, Matusz/Arrieta, and some other prospects for Hanley and JJ and possibly Nolasco.

Those same rumors are also being talked about in Toronto and Boston... getting those same 2 players.

If I am the Fish, I'm looking to trade Hanley. He has been pretty crappy for more than a year and is a head case. I can see why Baltimore would want JJ, but if I were them Hanley would not interest me. Perhaps the Marlins are saying that any trade for JJ must include Hanley and net elite prospects in return?

Yeah the names are just speculation....I'm just stating that the Marlins/Orioles are in heavy discussion to do A trade...not sure who is involved. I'm sure it will be Ricky Nolasco for Parker Bridwell in the end and I will slam my head on to my desk several times until I bleed out my ears, LOL

As much as I cringe at Hanley bringing his diva-ness to the O's....his current status as a MLBer is much better than what we are throwing out there...if Betemit isn't striking out and making errors...we are throwing Steve Tolleson out there...it's brutal. The potential upside of Hanley is there too...maybe he'll be motivated playing against the best in the AL East and in a wild card hunt.

So are Hanley, JJ and Matusz/Arrieta actually involved in this rumor or are you just adding names on your own?

Since the word "blockbuster" is confirmed, we have to assume at least Hanley is involved, possibly JJ. I threw it Matusz/Arrieta b/c I can't see Orioles getting one or both of those players without Baltimore sending one of their high-potential/young arms in return.

EDIT: However, every name is just speculation at this point.

It might just be me, but it's seems like the Marlins haven't pulled a deal for any minor leaguers since Hanley that have panned out. They've gotten a bunch of high level prospects who just fizzle.

So basically this thread is about 2 guys who are said to be on the market and your team is interested in them?

In that case the Cubs should trade Darwin Barney for Profar

Bryan Lahair for Dylan Bundy

Last but not least Paul Maholm for Jameson Taillon

There that ought to do

No this thread is about the Marlins and Orioles "knee deep" in a blockbuster trade discussion. Nice try at the sarcasm though.

"knee deep" in something!

Do you have a link or anything that says what your saying isn't just homerism?

I am sure many other teams have kicked the tires but this is the latest from Rotoworld:

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Athletics, Dodgers, Blue Jays and Orioles are among the teams interested in a trade for Hanley Ramirez.

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Blue Jays are interested in Marlins right-hander Josh Johnson.

Orioles have told teams Bundy & Machado are off the table. Lots of interest in current young arms, inc Arrieta & Matusz, who are both at AAA
