On Espn they just talked about a Boston v Miami Trade of Carl Crawford and prospects for Heath Bell and Josh Johnson.

It seems as if the Marlins are trying to dump salary (because of their recent trade), why would they want a $100miliion injury prone player? (Who will probably be having surgery after the season is over) Makes no sense and I don't see it happening.

I really don't think it is a salary dump, as much as it is re-shaping the roster. Crawford was recently a top 10 player, anyone trading for him must assume he is going to get back on track. Johnson is also a injury risk and Heath bell is VERY overpaid. I could see something like this working out and making sense actually.

I dont buy the Crawford thing, he's owed way too much long term. For Hanley, it would be trading a long term salary problem for another one. Kind of a challange trade. I'm not sure 2.5 years of Bell and 1.5 years of JJ comes anywhere near what Crawford is due.

So we would be swapping injury prone players? Awesome, sounds like the Red Sox I know and love.

Bell sucks this year so not sure how adding him and JJ would make the Sox a better team, with the subtraction of Crawford as well as prospects. Just stupid and I don't see the Sox making any huge trades before the deadline. The last thing they need to do is trade away prospects for well, anything. Making a big trade isn't even enough to get them to the playoffs this year so they might as well look for the future.

It's all rumors that have been spreading around lately. No team wants to take on Crawfords contract whether they want him or not, especially knowing he will have another surgery this offseason.

I can see the Sox trade one of their spare OFers (Pods, Nava, etc..) or a relief pitcher (Albers, Atch, etc...) or even Shoppach. Possibly Lars Anderson, I'm surprised he is still with the Red Sox organization. The Crawford trade rumors just seem so unlikely.

I don't think Machado is so Good you couldn't put him in the right deal if you're Baltimore. But IMO, Hanley and JJ would be the right deal...

We'll see if the O's back down on not moving him if it gets a Blockbuster like that done...

I don't think they will trade Johnson, with them just trading Sanchez. We'll see...

source told me he's gone will be announced in a few days, didn't give me the potential trade package. They want a Headley type package for Hanley Ramirez

kinda hope the Red Sox do nothing. Every deal that Ben has done so far has turned into a pile of crap.

Agreed! I am one looking for the future and can see that this team is not playoff material this season...hate to see them trade away prospects so they can contend one season. Counter-productive in the long run usually. I wouldn't mind them being sellers for a change, a few Sox I wouldn't mind see leave.
