If anyone has viewed to Bo 30 for 30 or was around sports in that era knows he was a bad man. Bad luck on a simple tackle was what kept him from being even bigger. Ryan

Sad to see his careers end before they ever really peaked. He was truly a once in a generation athlete

Overhyped back who won thanks to Barners padding the votes. Deion was better.

I agree George. Thorpe was insane! (Based on history and stuff I've read/seen since obviously I never saw him play).

I also think Bo and Jim would be as close equals as you could get.

In 1950, the nation's press selected Jim Thorpe as the most outstanding athlete of the first half of the 20th Century and in 1996-2001, he was awarded ABC's Wide World of Sports Athlete of the Century.
At the tender age of 24, Thorpe sailed with the American Olympic team to Stockholm, Sweden for the 1912 Olympic Games. Remarkably, he trained aboard the ship on the journey across sea. He blew away the competition in both the pentathlon and the decathlon and set records that would stand for decades.

He was an amazing athlete too! He was the one guy I thought could beat bo.

I'm old Greg

He's a great athlete everyone on that list is an amazing athlete, but I'm not sure how he beat Jackie. I guess purely on the fact he broke the color barrier but I'm not sure how that makes him better. Not knocking Jackie just surprised when it came down to a baseball player vs another baseball player Jackie beat out Willie. Some consider Willie the greatest of all-time

I think you could argue that Jim Brown was a better athlete than Bo. Hell, he's considered the best player in two different sports. They had to change the rules of lacrosse because he was so dominant.

I didn't see it but Michael Jordan has to be hands down the #1 athlete of his lifetime.

bo took jordan down, lets be honest Jordan #1 in basketball but he was terrible baseball player. bo was all star in both sports he played and just all around freak of nature to be that big and that fast.
