Every year, topps increases the following print runs:

Topps gold
topps black
Heritage chrome
Heritage chrome refractors
Heritage minors black

And then they play around with bc blue refractors.

Don't blame leaf

What does that have to do with what Leaf does?

ZOMG! Quit the bellyaching. >:)
The first rule to buying anything is always buyer beware. The slightest bit of research would have shown you what you needed to know. Companies change serial #ing and colors all the time. Doesn't make it right but that's the way things roll.

+ red refs 1/1 in draft and #/5 in BC. Topps also switches up Topps Chrome.

Topps does this IMO to keep collectors on their toes... and because each base set doesn't have the same print run year after year.

This is how I got duped the last two years of buying Leaf. I'm not much of a fan of Topps, but I don't recall this ever happening when I've purchased their products. I like that we have competition from Leaf in the market, but buying their product makes little sense as a prospector.

I am not sure how this is Leaf's fault at all. Suck it up.

I wish Topps would make up their mind about Bowman Chrome blue refractors - I've seen #'d/250, /199, /150, and /99. Drives me nuts.

Yeah and I don't like that they constantly change the numbering and types of parallels in their product (i.e., why are Ref Autos not numbered this year, why are base refractors not numbered at all anymore, why don't they keep blues and purples the same and stop throwing in random extra parallels that are scrapped after a product or two).

The thing that Topps has going for them is the steadiness of the staple parallels. Bowman Chrome Gold Refractors are always #/50. Orange #/25. Red #/5. Superfractor 1/1s. Blue AUTOs have been #/150 consistently even though the non-autos have changed. And up until Draft this year, Ref Autos were #/500. I think their lack of numbering will hurt their products in the long run because it makes them lesser cards than when they were /500.

Constructive Criticism- Maybe this is something BG can take to improve Leaf products...just from this thread it's pretty easy to tell that collectors just want consistency. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Find something that works and stick to it year after year. The new players each year should be the variable that continues to bring people back to buy more...NOT adding a bunch of random 1-time parallels, changing the numbering around, etc. Just a thought.
