So is that the best Non-Chrome parallel?

What's more desirable, the 1/1 Red or the Superfractor?

This is a chrome parallel. It is a Red Refractor.

I both both red Brauns when he was in A Ball.

When I feel confident about my forecast, I pay over market value to get what I want.

It rarely bites me in the foot.

No regrets.

Both of you were eager to sell those cards to me for the prices I paid.

Truth be told, at that time, the prices were inflated.

Braun base auto's were around 10-15 bucks.

Phil, you refer to flipping. How is this for a flip:

Braun Sterling red ref for 800, Braun BCDP red ref for 1100.

Sold the Braun Sterling for $1,500 and the Longo Sterling Red Ref 1/1.

So I'm holding the Longo red sterling ref and the Braun red ref 1/1 autographs for a basis of $400.

Looking back? Hell yes, I look back with a big smile on my face.

If somebody buys a card from me for $5K-ish, I am not going to make them pay for me shipping and handling.

I was more than eager to sell you the card. Like Phil said, I made $250 (after shipping, fees, etc.) from the sale which I would do any day of any week. I paid over market to get the card as well. It was listed on Naxcom and Ebay by the seller for $500, but I had a balance on my Naxcom account so I bought it there. I only became aware of it because someone posted about it on the Beckett boards, and it was about 6 hours later that I finally heard about it and hit the BIN. I had already made $600 on the first Braun BC gold ref auto (bought for $190, sold in 9.5 for an $800 money order), so I felt good getting the red and taking a chance on the grading. Lots of people had a shot at that card in raw condition for $500, so $800 for the 9.5 seemed a little above market and I jumped on it. And of course, I am glad you made even more from your sale.

Found the Naxcom listing from my purchase history: http://www.sportsbuy.com/book.do?bookID=1691821

Oh I agree, those are wonderful flips and you are going to make out like a bandit....but Brauns and Longorias are few and far between compared to all the prospects who go bust. Thus, I, like David, would sell a card for a 60% margin right away rather than hold for years. I know if I held for years I might have several great cards or even several great players but if I stacked all those cards up and stacked the cards of all the "dead" prospects up next to them, I know which would be higher...way higher.

Mike seems to have the Midas touch, no question.

Looks as though I'd better start investing in a certain young Royals' arm sooner than later.

No doubt. I'd be much richer today if I sold a few guys I still have a hoard of.

I am glad I kept Homer though.

I have accepted much of Philly Econimics' advice on when to sell.

If anyone doubts his understanding of markets, just read his blogs.

No need to thank me for the props, Phil.

You deserve it.

I must say that the profit I "made" (i.e., if I sold them today) off Dwight Howard, Ryan Braun (most are sold - have about (6) 9.5/10 parallels and a raw blue ref left), and Nick Markakis alone would exceed $30,000. That's probably what I have spent on cards in total over the last 18 months.

So if all those belly-up and become worthless, I am at a standstill.
