Why? When was the last time the best pitching prospect in baseball history came around?

Two thoughts: Top 5 is exactly how I'd have it, and Logan Morrison is laughably low at 50. Easily at op 25 guy, if not higher.

i think bumgarner is higher than 21 imo.
And he hasnt even thrown a pitch in the minor leagues yet.. might as well put chapman up there too.

Neither Bumgarner nor Chapman are on the same level as Strasburg.

Sure he hasn't pitched yet, but think about it: 100+ mph fastball, a plus plus breaking ball and plus changeup. Guy has everything it takes to be a stud.

Chapman throws heat, but doesn't have the secondary stuff that Strasburg has.

I agree that Bumgarner should be higher than he is.

Yep, I hear that..my point is simply that it's not too farfetched to think that a "super-prospect" who hasn't played yet could be ranked higher than a great prospect who has had Minor League success.

And thanks, hopefully I'll make it a little higher than $7.10 by the end of the year ;)

you guys just can't get enough of that Bumgarner kool-aid can you?

read em and weep guys. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt on my list ranking him in the top 30... if this is his true velocity, after a winter of rest... then he's in the 80-100 range. maybe not even top 100. sorry. I know it's early in the spring, but this is my suspicions confirmed.

he's not a top-of-the-rotation guy.

A couple of things...

I agree with Carlos Santana ahead of Buster Posey

I can find 15 players towards the Bottom of the list that I would take Bobby Borchering over.

I also love seeing the Vitters love at #31

Vitters is too much Delmon/Francoeur for my liking. he really needs to learn to take a walk this year, or I'll officially be 'concerned'.

I am NOT a Bumgarner guy, but judging his velocity right now is NOT SMART. Anyone that has pitched a highly competitive level will tell that it takes quite some time to reach your full arm strength.

Absolutely right. Especially if you're not pitching in a warm weather state during the offseason, it can take awhile to dial it up to your top velocity.

That said, high 80s does not look promising for a guy who was supposed to be one of the top pitching prospects in the game.

huh? where did he pitch in the offseason?

Not sure about Bumgarner, I'm no expert on him, but as a former college pitcher I can say from experience that I always felt that my top velocity came once the weather started to warm up.

i'm not talking about how high a guy can dial-it-up once in a start. if that's what yr talking about... if Bumgarner is sitting 87-88, like he was last season, in the warmth of the summer... then he's overrated, that's all i'm saying

I don't get Duffy not being on the list. Moustakas being on any of these lists at this point is a stretch. He has no position. He refused to switch to catcher this off season. I'm not sure he's going to have any pull within the Royals organization if he can't start figuring out the strike zone. The team was giving him a chance at a position. He might be able to play right at this point. Maybe. He's not tall and he makes up for it by being slow. That will be 4 years in a row that the Royals gave massive amounts to their first pick only to have it shoot them in the ass. They were so worried about how much it would cost to draft other guys and overpaid for what they got, in the end.

There was a big move that was going to be made by the Royals this offseason that didn't happen so I'll go ahead and tell about it. It was addition by subtraction. They were willing to eat the entire salary of Jose Guillen in order to just get his ass away from the team. After supposedly having a death in the family, a relative that still lacks a name, he showed up in shape according to my sources. I haven't seen him in action or been around to see any video but that's what I heard.
