The winner of my contest just bumped the thread, and he won with the answer of Branch Rickey. The question: who is my 180th different HOF auto? We all know Branch Rickey as the executive who signed and brought up Jackie Robinson. He also started the farm system as we know it today. Here is a letter written to another HOfer:

Awesome! Very unique! How would you display/preserve this piece? Which HOF'ers are you missing?

Very nice pickup, but I have to say I hate you.
I was the underbidder on that and wanted to win it as a gift for my dad.

Sorry for bidding you up. And congrats, it's a great piece.

Ha! Sorry to take a gift away from your pops. Did you bid on the one ending yesterday, or was it only Dodgers letterhead you are interested in?

Maine of course......
Well done Wayne!! I'll keep my eyes out for you. I just sent my Speaker, Gordon, Yawkey, Waner, Southworth and Griffith to PSA today, along with some players who I have on-card certified autos of (like Gwynn, Henderson, Aparicio, etc....) I'm hopeful they all come back clean but that does not always happen.

On to 190...... ;)

Actually it was the reference to the antitrust decision that was the main reason I wanted it for him.

Branch Rickey is a nice pick-up...one that I have been meaning to add.

Best of luck with the rest...there are some serious "toughies" on there.

Really? That's interesting, because I was talking about that with my dad this morning. I love the content of the letter, and we were joking that most people wouldn't think twice about it. In fact, most would probably dismiss it as boring.

To be sure. 200 has never looked so far away (though #181 should be in any day now).

Yeah, he's done some work in that area so it seemed appropriate for him.
