Today’s MRI revealed that TE Brandon Pettigrew’s knee injury suffered against the Green Bay Packers will require season-ending surgery.

Pettigrew left in Detroit’s first offensive series after catching a 12-yard pass from QB Matthew Stafford. He was coming off his best game of the year in which he caught six passes for 72 yards, including the game-clinching touchdown.

Ok so next, Stafford will be out too, since it was obvious that he was in pain, everytime he was on the side-lines
they showed him grimacing and that was not good. I know it is his non-throwing shoulder but you still need it to thru the ball
down field as well as across your left-side

Yea i was expecting to hear Staford to be out for the season not Pettiegrew. Im sure it will be announced sooner or later. I hope it does any way i wouldn't want to see a rookie throw his career away on his 1st season.

I can't even thing that after the did not score in the 3rd quarter why Culpepper did not go in, seems that did not care
waht happened to him. you were done by more the 15 at the time and you were not scoring, seems to make know sense why he stayed in there as long as he did.

The Lions will be better next year if they fix the OL and Stafford continues to grow as a QB.

The Lions have way more holes than that. The only defenders they have that could start for an average NFL team are Delmas, Peterson, Levy and then maybe Hill and Foote. The Lions are two solid drafts away before they even smell .500.

Jared Deveris is good. Hes out for the season so that hurts them.

Pettigrew was the stupidest pick in NFL history! A blocking TE with the 20th pick by a team full of holes? WTF!?!?! I had 3 Lions fans call me as soon as he was picked that were very angry. I explained to them this is the whole reason I can't root for the home team. They have been run like that for years. They always draft the offensive skill positions first, and ignore both lines. They statistically were the worst defense in NFL history last season and they draft QB, TE in the first round, and a S with the next pick? Clueless! I don't care if Petigrew was guaranteed to be the next Tony Gonzalez, it was a bad pick for that team! TE is a luxery pick. That is why the 1st TE normally goes off the board at the VERY end of the 1st round! A good team can take that chance, and 0-16 cannot. There were 10 defensive players that should have been chosen in that spot over Pettigrew!

Devries and Sims are not good btw! Sims was a good college player, too small for LB in the NFL. devries is a Iowa guy so that is the only reason you could have possibly said that!

I must disagree - Bobby Carpenter is the worst pick in NFL history. Worse than Leaf, worse than Shuler, worse than Brian Bosworth...combined.

disagree. Carpenter looked good in college, and Dallas wasn't 0-16 when they drafted him, and LB is much more valuable than TE. Don't look at what the player turned into, look at the deciion at the time, for the certain situation.

::facepalm::
How is a line backer more valuable then a tight end?

Name me 1 head coach that would take an elite TE over an elite LB. Who is the best TE in the league? My opinion it would be Dallas Clark. I know since you are Iowa slappy, you will agree. Would anyone rather have Dallas Clark than Demarcus Ware? I don't think so. In fact there are 10 LBs in the league at least that I would take over the best TE. You can play good offense without a TE, you cannot play an effective def without a LB.

Perhaps you're not familiar with the Carpenter reference since you're not a regular in these parts. I'm 100% anti Bobby Carpenter, and that's where the reference comes from. The Cowboys took Bobby Carpenter over...

Antonio Cromartie (we could have really used a db)
DeAngelo Williams (understandable, given our RB situation)
Devin Hester (...jeez)
Sinorice Moss (ok, so that's my homerism)

A tight end was taken #6 overall. You guys might know him - Vernon Davis.
