I hate renting players Frank Wren style - i.e. - Texiera , Derrick Lee, but a Beltran could be the difference in a run at Philly because I don't think Jason Heyward aka Greg Oden is the answer.

Plenty of farm pitching to give up as well as Beachy who I think should have already been dealt.

The Mets eating much of salary makes this more attractive

Thoughts?

I agree- doubt it happens within the division with so many other teams willing to take Beltran.

Probably won't happen.

It'd be nice if the Mets could get either Beachy or Minor along with another solid prospect.

That's why I thought Pence was the obvious play but not appearing that the Stros want to do a deal.

Yeah it sucks to deal Beltran for a top prospect and then see that guy light you up several times a year while Beltran is on the Orioles, in Kansas City or retire

The way Beachy is pitching tonight I'd give him away for the Peanut and Beer guy.

Beachy has pitched great for us all year. Just a bump in the road. Take Minor or Lowe from us. We need to get rid of 1 of the 2

The Mets, Dodgers, and Astros are teams that want bodies that can compete for playing time next year while slashing payroll.

Braves would probably like to turn Jordan Schafer and Mike Minor into something useful and the Mets would want some money going there way also.

we have plenty of right handed starters and no lefties right now that's why I say get rid of Beachy and keep Minor.

Just say no to Beltran

not crazy about it but we've got to get more output out of our OF. it's atrocious right now and Hinske is much better as a spot starter and the best clutch pinch hitter in baseball.

Everyone has 1 bad start. I'm a little biased towards beachy since i played against him in high school, i of course think its cool that he now plays for my favorite team but his numbers have been great. He is also pitching in colorado for the 1st time and he made a mistake to there 2 best hitters. I call that learning. I agree we need a left handed starter but i'd rather keep beachy, trade lowe and bring up minor then give away any young starters who have shown great potential. They just showed a stat that clenup hitters are hitting .103 off beachy up til tulos 2 hits tonight. so now like .150. I just dont see why you would trade a young starter for a 1/2 year guy. If we were to give up young pitching atleast go get hunter pence.

atrocious?

dude, check the defensive range

Why do you think the pitchers look so good? That outfield covers an absolute ton of ground. Doubles become outs, I've seen it happen this season more than any.

be PATIENT with heyward

No way we could pawn Lowe off on the Mets. Y'all have to remember, the Mets are several hundred million in the hole. The whole reason Beltran is even available is just so they can dump his salary in an attempt to resign Reyes.

Personally I'd like to keep Beachy. Lowe will be gone when his contract is up and I think Beachy can fill his role. Wren will have to decided which minor league arm to give up if he really wants to pull the trigger. And Schafer is our center fielder of the future. I think we need to find someone who wants McLouth.

yes atrocious offensively - outside of Prado

Schaefer batting 230
McLouth 227
and Heyward 224

OBP ain't exactly great;

Defensively, while more than serviceable, I can't see any of these guys winning gold gloves.

Nate McClouth already has one Gold Glove.

I don't see the Braves and the Mets trading within the division and the Braves giving up big prospects, especially for an injury plagued Carlos Beltran and his big salary.

Dude, it's all about range

Two guys with REALLY good range and Heyward with plus range

That means more outs and less extra base hits.

Schafer is what he is, McLouth is wha the is. I'd be SHOCKED if heyward hit .224 the rest of the year.

Comon man, Beltran won't help ANYTHING in Atlanta.
