WALTHAM, Mass. (AP)—Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers says there is a strong possibility that Kevin Garnett will miss the whole postseason.

The All-Star forward has missed most of the last two months with a strained right knee. He had been recovering with an eye towards the playoffs, but Rivers said he had to shut Garnett down at practice Thursday morning and “there’s no way” he could play right now.

Rivers said on a radio show that Garnett was frustrated but understood that it was the right thing to do.

The defending NBA champions begin the best-of-seven first round series against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday.

Even if they make the finals you will not see him in uniform.

I think they can still beat the bulls and have a decent shot against a banged up Orlando. They weren't going to beat the Cavs either way, so it doesn't change things too much.

I dont believe that. If we had a healthy Garnett we had a very good chance to repeat. We would have gotten past the Cavs. With that said it does not matter as KG looks to be done. We just have to fight with everything else we have and go from there. Just a sad day (For Me) in sports history! :(

My mind is confident that the Cavs will take it this year with or without KG for the Celts. The celtics fan in my isn't giving up hope. I still think the Celts can pass orlando with the way Baby and Powe have been playing. I could also see Miami giving cleveland trouble just because of how Wade is able to carry a team.

I knew Lebron was going to come a knock'in but I honestly thought that we had one more Title in us before Lebron served notice and Took over the league. He is accually a year ahead than I thought and is already doing what I thought he would do next season. Even with the way he is playing I dont think his teammates are ready to advance to the next level. Even with the news on KG im still going to watch till the end.

Since the Celtics got Garnett they have never beaten Cleveland in Cleveland.Cleveland hasn't beat Boston in Boston either since the Garnett trade.

I think Boston will get to the 2nd round, but will have major trouble with Orlando.Howard will unstoppable for sure in that series. As far as Miami goes, they will win 1 maybe 2 games against the Cavs at best!

I could see Orlando giving Cavs a hardtime if they meet, but the Cavs should still win the series.I believe the Lakers are the only team that can beat Cleveland in a series rightnow. And i'm hopeful that the Cavs can win with homecourt advantage.
