3. I picked up a value box with one hand while I was holding a screaming two year old in the other with a 38lb bag of Purina over my shoulder.
Awwww. Sorry your life sucks and you have to vent here.

No need to be a *****.

I have 3 kids, don't game, and I shop at Target. ;)

Feel bad for all the hobby shop owners that struggle to stay direct with topps and their purchase requirements. I mean what advantage do hobby dealers really have these days. Yes ultra premium product is exclusive to hobby, but who the heck has the money to buy that stuff. My local shop told me that retail the past 2 years is kicking his butt. With a Walmart, and target around every corner he has tons of comp for the core product. Hobby is hobby, and it should never be sprinkled into retail. Jaypers lottery example is spot on. U can say what you want, but as someone that rips wax I'm a bit uneasy with these value boxes turning up supers. I buy hobby for one to support my local shop, and 2 for the chance at the bigger hits. Topps absolutely knows what they are doing, and it has shifted business to the mass merchants. Another example that Topps could care less about its customer base.

No venting. Simply giving an explanation for why I didn't notice the box had been handled by Edward Scissorhands.

Why you mad?

I have 2 kids, don't game, and shop at Tractor Supply Company.

Apparently Russ has some smart phone app that gives him a detailed description of what the value boxes should look like prior to purchasing. I wish I was that cool.
Huh?

Apparently it must be rocket science. :?:

These didn't come out today. It's not like nobody knows what they look like.
People have been buying these up for weeks now.

Google is a wonderful thing, and yes, I love my smart phone. No App required for common sense. ;)

I can't help ya on the cool part though. Sorry.

Hey my bad bro. Not everyone can hang out at the Wal*Mart arcade and pump quarters into Big Buck Hunter 67 while waiting for the card guy to put a fresh batch out.

1. No, they didn't come out today, and that has nothing to do with not knowing what they look like.
2. I couldn't tell you who is on the front of a 2012 Topps box and could care less.
3. I picked up a value box with one hand while I was holding a screaming two year old in the other with a 38lb bag of Purina over my shoulder.

Definitely top 5 pics I have seen posted here. Thank you for the laugh, sir.

I'm one of the poor unfortunates who apparently lives in a value boxless town. After reading about all the hits these boxes are supposedly crammed with I decided to go hunting. After 2 Targets and 2 Walmarts I found a grand total of zero of these things, and one the Walmarts apparently stopped carrying sportscards at all, and the other hasn't been stocked in at least a month as they had no 2012 Topps. So all those who say they're lousy with them, count your blessings and rip, I guess.

Topps card sales are 90% retail and 10% to hobby stores. This trend will continue until mom and pop shops no longer exist.

cha right! That is not possible.

As long as he doesn't defend his Edward 40hands reign he will be fine.

Here is what we found,
We opened 20 cases of 2011 bowman chrome this year and didn't pull anything spectacular.
1 Lawrie gold auto redemption was by far and away the best pull, also had no hits above blue prospect refractors at all, (we had a couple of color auto's but I meant base)

Fast forward to value boxes we have opened 110 of them and pulled the following:

1 lawrie orange refractor auto
1 ackley gold refractor auto (also seriously short printed auto's, 20 cases yielded us 1 Ackley base auto)
1 gold turner non auto
1 Havens blue refractor auto
4 base auto's (noone worth mentioning)

(PLEASE KEEP IN MIND WE OPENED THE EQUIVALENT OF 40% OF A CASE TO REALIZE THAT YIELD)

Take it for what it is.

I picked a value box up today. First one I've bought and pulled a Harper auto. I couldn't believe it I guess I need to go buy the rest of them they had at Wal-Mart.

I guess all these great pull stories are true.
