After the Rockhounds game last night, some of us went down by the field to throw some tennis balls at a target for a postgame promotion. There were about 10 or 20 people on the 3rd base side behind the Hooks dugout. Brian Esposito went out of his way to walk over to us, singled out a little girl who was about 3 or 4 years old, and smiled at her and gave her a bat. She hadn't even asked for it, and she was really happy. Really a nice gesture from a visiting player. Maybe the bat hadn't been too great to him. He is 32 and has bounced around the minors for years, getting a cup of coffee a couple years ago. I'm really glad to have this card in my collection now, because even though he may never be an all-star at the MLB level, he looks to be a baseball lifer, and one who really gets it. He just walked away after he handed her the bat and wouldn't turn around, even though all the Rockhounds fans were clapping for him and calling his name.
