well as many of you might not know, i live 20 mins from Asbury Park. I am a huge DIEHARd bruce springsteen fan. Fanatic is more like it. Well i got 2 albums signed by him back in march, but did not get a chance to actually converce with him. Tonight it happened. My Aunt works at a bar in asbury that he stopped in at. I left work early, grabbed my camera and a sharpie and his "Rookie Card" and sped up to asbury which is 20 minutes away. Back in march i did not get a picture with him which is what i wanted the most. But tonight i not only talked to him for a few minutes but i got the elusive all time wanted picture with him and he signed his Topps "Rookie Card" . My newest all time favorite trading card behind the mac poh 500 auto. Enjoy the pics. Cause i am on cloud 9.

Maybe not the right forum for this, but for some of you out there, besides me meeting mcgwire, this is like you meeting pujols or arod or griffey or your dad meeting ruth or mantle type of event.

Only problem with all this is the Greasy Lake t-shirt. The Stone Pony London is the site to visit as a Boss fan! ;)

Great story and congrats. I've got a similar story meeting him back in '88 and he was great to me and my friends.

We'll have to exchange boots some time as I've got thousands.

I'm still mad that he made Phish pull down the songs he did with them at Bonaroo off their site. Glad I downloaded them before, mad no one else can download them.

Cool! The Boss is a god in our Garden State.

"this is like you meeting pujols or arod or griffey or your dad meeting ruth or mantle type of event."

I've met Griffey Jr. - I'd never put him in the class of Mantle or Pujols. Jr. isn't exactly a goodwill ambassador.

tAwesome story and glad you actually met Bruce....are you pinching yourself?? :o :D :o :D

I dream of meeting him (and my wife dreams of more than that   ) some day as well. HUGE fan here- have seen him many times, with highlight seeing him at Fenway.

EDIT- very appropriate that my 2500th post is about Bruce and Fenway!!!!

great story and pics, i am happy for ya! however, imho springsteen is one of the most overrated musicians of all time...just a shade behind KISS. i grew up during the 80's and he was huge...i just never saw the appeal. regardless, congrats!~blake

Aren't most modern day musicians over-rated? It's the Boss's fans that have oversold his image. His music is more about fun and social commentary. It's not designed to save the world or be the best thing since slice bread. He's got some great songs. I like Born to Run, The Rising, Brilliant Disguise... those are among my faves of his stuff. To lump the Boss with Kiss is a bit of a cheat since Kiss is more about image and gimmicks than music - the band itself doesn't even hide that. Most of the time its the fans themselves that oversell a music group. But if some fans find Kiss cool, there's nothing wrong with that.

the only song of bruce's that i can tolerate is "i'm on fire." the rest just comes across like bland and generic rock and roll. i can appreciate his songwriting abilities but the good time feel of his music just seems hacky and contrived. this is the last i will comment as i do not want to take away from the intention of this thread anymore than i already have.

Did Griffey piss you off or something?

Not really. I met him in 1991 and he already seemed jaded and full of himself. He certainly wasn't the happy guy in the Nike commercials.
