It's pretty much all downhill from here.

Re: The First Bryce Harper AFLAC Sells

Nevermind I'm an idiot. Two others sold before this one: 135, 100. The latter likely sold almost immediately.

Does this mean he will be an AFLAC AUTO in an upcoming draft release????

He has to be drafted, sign with his team, then sign with Topps first.

Late 2010 at the earliest.

The one that sold for 100 had some corner damage as well.

I understand that point, I was just merely trying to add to the hype!!!!

I've grown quite disenchanted with these cards over the past couple of years.

They start off red hot, then quickly plummet. And now, since we've seen autographed versions appear in last year's BDP, there's always a chance they'll be returning in this year's BDP, thus making last year's base fall even further.

I'll still buy them, but I've definitely lowered my maximum buy price per card this year.

Let's face it - the only real winners when it comes to these cards are those who attended the game and listed them immediately.

Has anyone heard an official print run on this year's cards? I know the game was free, but there still weren't that many people in the stands, and at only one card per person, it seems like it has to be lower than in previous years.

I'd say that's the exception, rather than the rule. In addition, BGS 9.5's of these cards just don't seem to command the same premiums they first did in 2006, back when they were being tossed around in a box prior to being handed out.

There were allot more people this year then last year.. Also after the game was a few innings in and less and less people were coming through the gates they started handing out more cards per person..

was Chicago now Glendale AZ
Those that are looking to buy now are of course going to down play it
(well, at least until they sell later)
Those that are looking to sell now are going to hype it up now

It would be interesting to save this thread and see if those that aren't so hot about the potential of a card or player have a different opinion if they became a seller of such card or player

This is going to be a $10 card in a couple years when he has other real cards out there.

Ok....

but what about until then?

No idea. I'm sure some people will make money off these. By all means, go after them if you want, but if I were you, I'd make sure they were gone before he has a card in a Bowman product come out in a couple years.

I wouldn't trust any numbers I hear. There are a couple of auciton on the bay for complete sets (40 cards?) already. At one per person, I have a hard time believe one person talked 39 other people into giving him the exact cards he needed.
