Good for him, but unbearable to watch. Imagine the look on his parents faces when he tried explaining to them that he pulled a card that sells for over $5,000. lol "Okay, Johnny. Go play with your toys now."

I can also imagine the offers he is getting on youtube...$1000...maybe...$1K is A LOT of money for a kid...unscrupulus people out there looking to rip him off I'm sure... :benson:

Surely you realize that - outside of FCB - at least 50% of "collectors" would screw their own mother on a deal to make money.

He probably has an eBay account that has a PayPal account tied to one of his parent's checking accounts.

that whole video just kind of pisses me off. kids in the hobby are great and all, but i can pretty much guarantee the only reason he wanted that box was for anything harper related. and the way he handles all of them is just sad.

To be fair, I didn't always treat my cards with the greatest care when I was a kid either. I spread them over the grass, on top of dirt, on the kitchen floor, wrapped them up in rubber bands, etc. etc LOL. I think the difference is that this kid probably doesn't appreciate cards... he probably learned not to appreciate cards from an adult.
on the flipside, though, i doubt you were dealing with several thousand dollar cards either. its a little different now than it was then from mass production, ebay, etc. as well.

Why should a kid care, or for that matter, why should I care about value? They're cards.
right, but you can't tell me he didn't know what that thing is worth (or atleast that its valuable). i'm just saying that comparing what you did as a child to what this kid is doing now is apples to oranges just as comparing the hobby from past decades to now is the same thing.

But yet he's handling the cards just as roughly as any kid has in the past. Just because cards change doesn't mean kids will or have, adults influence a kid's behavior, not cards.

You're probably right that he only wanted a Harper, but only because someone told him anything other than Harper was junk (who else knows the MiLB players??). Kids get a free pass on this stuff.

I could not watch it past the 4th pack, what an annoying little twit. I believe that kid is borderline retarded.

Edit: I should give the kid credit for at least looking at the common cards though.

Lol the people at my local card shop complain to me when I skip through the commons :D So last time I went I looked at EVERY base card, front and back, just to make them happy! :D But thats a pretty nice hit for him! Better than anything and everything Ive ever pulled :(

When I was that age I handled are cards as if they were 1/1 autos, except for when I first started collecting, after about a month I handled cards like they were gold, even when I was nine. Not all kids are like that.
