Nice to see the Boras Corp. start using social media.

Exactly. Negotiation tactic before they have probably even started negotiating. Boras will use any leverage he can get. Harper has tons of leverage but he won't ever be worth more than what he is this year.

Again, let me say that I will stake my entire "reputation", which is a silly thing on a message board, on this being his real account. Seriously.

Just to give you some clues for corroboration, look at his friend list if that information is available to you. I can see more than most because of my status with the profile, but the entire CSN roster is on his profile. As is his brother and his sister and even his parents.

His sister has commented on some of the pictures in the account. Gonna say its his.

I don't know where it fits in this thread, but I was at the AS Fan Fest, where the three candidates [who made it in-person] for the 2010 Golden Spikes signed at a table for 25 minutes before the award winner was announced.

Waiting in line, I overheard Chris Duffy [now in the Phillies system] talking with Harper about getting to know a particular girl they were talking about and Duffy was saying Facebook was the way to go.

Did anyone look at the comments after that post? It's a conversation between him and Manny Machado...and Tony Wolters chimes in too. I'd say the page is legit, but the comment is not. If you read his other posts he just really wants to be playing baseball right now.

And that is the weakest but most vague detail I can provide. But suffice it to say, it's certainly beyond a shadow of a doubt his own.

If you are looking to Facebook for any real or factually correct news about anything, you really need to have your head examined, join the Republican party (Sarah Palin joke), or both.

Facebook is factually correct. Atleast some of the time. I follow numerous feeds on there, mostly baseball, and it gives me news right when it happens. Facebook is pretty professional, it's not MySpace or anything.

It may be more professional, and you may be following feeds from some of the professional organizations that use it, but looking to personal accounts for accurate, truthful information is folly.

/action goes and updates his occupation on Facebook to "King of Boston"

I agree Facebook is a great venue for news if you use it properly.

Bro love doesnt get any stronger then this:

M.Machado to Harper on Facebook: "ill go with u" "ya am dead serious r u down? nd next year we will go 1 nd 2 again haha"

I have heard before that these two signed each others inscriptions on their Team USA stuff. I believe it now.

I wouldn't expect anything valid until the deadline passes.

Most reports indicate that negotiations have not even begun for either player...common for top-5 picks.

A player using a college commitment as leverage during contract negotiations...certainly this would be a first ::facepalm::

I wouldn't call JuCo ball a "college commitment." As for Machado and his commitment to Florida International...something tells me in three years he won't get drafted any higher than #3.

Just being sarcastic. Making fun of the fact that the most frivolous things are attempted to be made into leverage leading up to the signing deadline. Both end up signing - no doubt about it (Machado's deal is basically already in place).
