You're paying someone $20mil to sit on the bench?

I saw that and thought the same thing.

I am thinking I may turn this into a contest.

I have a few things I wouldn't mind giving away and I could make it like a week long thing (throw out a different prize every day).

Not sure how I want to "reward' people for their rosters, but I am sure i can come up with something.

Be looking for a contest thread soon.....

I went with a 12 man pitching staff because I figured with the starting rotation I wouldn't need a 7 man bullpen. The bullpen and bench were the hardest to put together.

Here's my lineup
1) Hanley Ramirez
2) Grady Sizemore
3) David Wright
4) Kevin Youkilis
5) Chase Utley
6) Ryan Braun
7) Brian McCann
8) Ryan Luwick (that's right he's hitting 8th!)
9) SP

Rotation
Santana
Webb
CC
Peavy
Lincecum (that's right he's my number 5)

Went over by a little less than $200,000, but it's hard finding decent switch hitters out there. I mean just look at the salaries for the starting lineup.

So I have $4+ million to plug holes caused by injuries.

Tried to have a “realistic” team that would not have too many stars on bench or cheap closers filling my bullpen. (JENKS)

Better defender: Berkman .996 Fld% Tex .994 Fld%
Younger: Meh, not sure what that has to do with anything.
Better hitter: Berkman - .312 BA, .420 OBP Tex - .308 BA, .410 OBP (Berkman beat him in almost every category even STOLEN BASES LOL     )
Cheaper: Only by two mil, which at that amount of salary isn't a big diff.

Berkman has also proven himself in the playoffs multiple times.

Tex is a solid choice but in my opinion it is insane to pick him over Berkman.

Fine...Berkman was slightly better. He still didn't fit within the budget set by the original post as close as Tex did.

need opinion ; what about Matt Capps?

I like him a LOT, but I am a bigger fan of Soria, then his.

Soria is a COMPLETE stud, whereas I think Capps will settle into the 2nd tier of closers (not a bad thing, jsut kind of a quiet, competent closer).
