I would move him to Fresno with Posey so they can work together and Madison can develop his secondary pitches a little more. If the Giants stand a chance to win the division or the wild card in August it might be worth bringing Madison up for the pen.

That's what I'd figure, I won't be surprised is Posey gets the bump to AAA, but Bumgarner won't get bumped to AAA/MLB unless they're in the race for the playoffs.

I don't see the point in a 2009 call-up, especially just to put him in the bullpen. An inexperienced reliever isn't going to help them win the division or wild card either.

The guy that should be given a shot is Pucetas.

Bosox3, I also agree about Puck. He needs to move up now and move Sanchez to the pen.

I doubt it. No reason to rush Bumgarner.

The Tigers rushed Zumaya and Andrew Miller in 2006. The Rays rushed Price in 2008. If the Giants are in the race, it seems plausible that Bumgarner would get a call a few days before Sept 1 to be eligible for the playoff roster.

I would beg to differ with this statement, as evidenced by both his ALCS performance and the few innings he had prior to the playoffs.

There's nothing worse than a GM rushing a prospect up to the bigs, them doing ok or poorly and them sending them down.

Call both of them up to AAA in a month and see how they do.

Keep Madison in AA for the rest of the year and promote Posey to AA. Madison just got to AA and there is no need to rush this kid. Posey needs more work defensively and AAA is not the place to screw around. Give him some time in AA and then next year by mid season call them both up to the bigs after starting the 2010 season in AAA.
