Found some 1998 Pacific Online for 50 cents a pack, 2000 Fleer Mystique for $2. ea. amongst other things at a shop in the Cities on BF. Had some fun, but didn't get much.
98 Pacific: One Gold foil per pack (bought 8 packs) and was hoping to pull some oddballs for player collectors cheap. Well, I got a lot of cheap. Gold cards of Mike Cather, Carlos, Almanzar, Jason Dickson, Harold Baines, Dave Hollins, Jeffery Hammonds, Karim Garcia, Terry Adams--the last four have the online code on the back. Team Checklists of gwynn, Rolen, Juan Gonzalez, and singles of A-Rod, Helton, Pettitte, Edmonds, Smoltz, Pudge, and a bunch of nobodies--Kevin Sefcik or Mike Buddie, anyone?
2000 Mystique: Three cards per pack, pretty cards, inserts come with holofoil stickers covering both sides, so of course I peeled them! Got Derrick Turnbow Prospect #1895/2000 and a Kazuhiro Sasaki Gold (he's also a prospect in the set, but the Gold isn't numbered. I assume there's fewer than the numbered prospects.) Good singles of Clemens, Manny, Bagwell, Beltran.
Okay, some new stuff;
5 packs of 206:
Minis, Piedmont back-Kazmir, Giambi, Matsuzaka, Manny, Old Mill back Loney. Nobody big in the thick cards, name alone backs of Sizemore and Cobb, and some good singles, Bay, Fielder, Walter Johnson and a Mantle checklist (#2 of 7) but nothing else. Guess that box is thinned out for everyone else--and it was a freshly opened box, too. Nobody to blame but myself.
6 packs of Heritage Hi#
Bay Chrome, Porcello Chrome, Alexi Ramirez GU (okay, so I beat the odds there, but yeechh!) Pujols/Maris Then and Now--best card of the day to me! And a bunch of singles. :|
So overall, I spent enough, and got very little to show for it, but it was fun opening some older stuff for a change. If anybody actually needs something, let me know.
