I hear they are just as bad at the shop. Someone was mentioning on here that they will not show you a card at the shop unless you purchase it first.

Which leads me to believe if you have too much inventory to showcase you may want to downsize.I'd never go to a shop and spend money on crap if they can't show me the card first. That is dumb as hell.

I've bought from them on ebay and in the store and they're definitely better online. If you go to the store, they sit you down on a computer and you buy stuff using their beckett website. Print the list out and they pull out the cards and you pay what's on the paper plus tax. I did complain about the condition of a card and the guy gave me attitude before asking the manager and the manager said I had a legitimate complaint. Then the guy pulls out another damaged card. ::facepalm:: They won't pull out cards for you to see so you might as well save time and gas and buy from home.

I would spend hundreds and hundreds (added up to thousands over time) with them if they would sell at lower prices. The cards I need have been sitting there since they listed them.

Hellooooooooooo.....Is there anyone form Burbank out there?
+1000

They have sooo many Dawson's that I've never seen anywhere
else, but I will NEVER buy them at Burbank's ridonculous prices.
Even if I had the disposable $$, it's a matter of principle.
Ye I just wait patiently for the auction, and always save at least half.

Burbank (and other dealers) have the right to price their cards at whatever price they want. We, as consumers, can dictate what prices we are willing to pay. Where those two forces meet, there is a sale.

A BGS 9.5 Super Duper Glow in the Dark Refractor card of some "Flavor of the Month" rookie has no real appeal to me, so I would not pay very much for one, but other will. That being said, I will always "overpay" for Nate Colbert cards in the judgement of 99.9% of the collecting commnity.

For all the grief that Burbank gets I have been nothing but pleased with the cards I have bought and honestly got a hell of a deal on a few of them. Would I like there to be a picture? Sure. But when your inventory is that large no one can honestly expect them to scan everything. I have never been to their physical location and not speaking on that aspect but I am very happy to have sellers like Burbank, sure there are a few cards that are grossly overpriced but I simply have them on my watchlist in hopes that some day they lower the price.

Here are two of my favorites from Burbank

I went to the Burbank shop a few years ago. Christmas of 05 I think.

They're not too unfriendly. They just leave you by your yourself. It's not too big of a store, but there's a lot of stuff in it. They have commons on two walls in specific sports/years. One wall is all wax, and in the middle they have showcases. I did buy a box of Parkhurst hockey, and pulled a $75 card, so I was happy. I don't really recall buying any singles that weren't in the showcases, but possibly that's because I didn't want to pay before I saw it. I'm not sure if that rule was enforced on me. Seems like they had one old guy and a few interns.

Thanked!

My Biggio and Manny collections have been helped GREATLY by them. They have had some cards available that I've searched for, for years. I will gladly overpay, knowing I will be able to own them as a player collector.

Yes, though some cards I won't buy because of how overpriced they are. but i would say 60-75% are within range to buy, IMO.

Is that even possible, how can you overpay without competition... ;)
just kidding...it must be nice not to have to pay much for your player though

If there was just one or two cards that I was desperate to have, and I'd searched for years and they were the only ones who had one for sale, I might pay their high prices, even with no scan. Although I wouldn't feel good about it. But they have a ton of Biggios I need and there's no way I could afford to buy even a fraction of them at those prices. Fortunately, a few of them occasionally come up on eBay from another seller and while they do not go cheaply, they always go for quite a bit less than Burbank. Which tells me that their prices are far above the market. That said, if Burbank was willing to show me the cards first and was willing to work with me on somewhat more realistic prices for a group of them, I'm sure I would have spent a lot of money with them. It's amazing to me that they can afford to sit on that kind of inventory and just wait for a sucker to come along (or I guess wait for Biggio to make the HOF). Even in this economy.

I don't want to rain on your parade if you are happy with the card, but it has a huge printing flaw on it. See how it looks like the player has a drop shadow to him. The foil overprint was way off during the printing of the card. See how the right side of the uniform looks shiny compared to the rest? The foil is off center by 1/4" of an inch or more. It produces a gap that is quite noticeable in your card. Correctly printed Star Rubies do not have that look.

I had a Donruss Gold Press Proof with that type of flaw once. It bothered me it was so off every time I looked at it that eventually I had to find another to replace it. Maybe you are happy with it, but at the price I bet you paid for it from Burbank, I would want a better card. It's really a big flaw when you know what you're looking at.

Thanks, I noticed that too, I thought it was design, but i haven't seen any other RJs, if you have another rj, i would think about requesting refund...

edit to add, i just asked for a refund...that is a lot of money for a defect.

I've bought a few things at prices that were reasonable based on what those cards had sold for in the past + how tough they are. Lots of overpriced stuff but that's on them... it won't sell.
