So you are admitting that you like baseball players based on whether they look manly enough for you? That's kind of weird. Kind of like acting like the name Buster is anything more than a name.

Not so much whether or not I like them, but whether or not I don't like them. No need to look manly, its just that for me to be a fan, your face shouldnt make me want to punch it. For example, I hate Ryan Hanigan. Why? Because he's ugly. Like, really ugly. And the name Buster may not mean much but when its paired with Posey ....

I know this is all subjective, but when I look at Buster Posey I see a great young catcher for the Giants. I couldn't care less about his name or his looks. Usually it's women who care about what guys look like or what their names are.

This is just sad, Theriot played one game in the WS and that was the final game. Also, nice cherry picking of stats.
From baseball reference. Do you even look this stuff up? Theriot, Crawford, Pence, and Blanco all started significantly in the World Series. In case you don't want to bother:

All players with 200 at-bats, except for Cody Ross, who I added in to match up the player totals. Posey and Sandoval, and Cabrera, better this year - Huff, Sanchez, Uribe, and Torres better in 2010. Defensively is where I would buy the argument that this year's team is better. But that's it.

Posey - .957 vs .862
Belt - .781 vs .891 (Huff)
Theriot - .637 vs .739 (Sanchez)
Crawford - .653 vs .749 (Uribe)
Sandoval - .789 vs .732
Cabrera - .906 vs .872 (Burrell)
Pagan - .778 vs .823 (Torres)
Pence - .671 vs .676 (Schierholtz)

Blanco - .676 vs .659 (Rowand)
Arias - .693 vs .707 (Renteria)
Sanchez - .685 vs .644 (Molina)
Scutaro - .859 (80 points over his previous best) vs .819 (Ross - 12 points over his career best)

As my dad says, any team starting Ryan Theriot at DH should really forfeit their wins. And as Ron said, the Giants were a force at the end of 2010 - not the case this year, aside from Posey. And back to the original point of the thread - if Posey hasn't made out as the new Derek Jeter after the 2012 season he had, it's probably a good bet it isn't going to happen.

Then why not Pablo Sandoval? Is it because he's portly? Unshaven?

He's a great young slugger for the two time world series champs.

He's the freakin' world series MVP- Pablo would be every bit as much the next Derek Jeter of baseball as Buster "please give me a wet willy" Posey.

Pablo is a good player, but he's not consistent and he has weight issues that affect his play. With Posey we are talking about a ROY winner, a two-time WS winner (Pablo was barely involved in the '10 title) and a probable MVP winner while playing a position of great importance... all before age 26. They aren't comparable.

At this point, in his first 4 years, Posey is far superior to Jeter statistically, and he has 2 WS titles to Jeter's 1.

So yeah...he's ahead of Jeter's pace thus far

I dont think we are going to see anyone the likes of Jeter for a log log time, before him him the only ones like him were Mantle and DiMaggio, Jeter is more like DiMaggio. American Icons. I dont think Buster Posey can compete, and that isnt a knock on Buster Posey.

At best, Buster "wedgie magnet" Posey will be a Johnny Bench, not a Sidney Crosby, Lebron James, or Tom Brady.

Lol interesting thread. I think the biggest reason he has no chance is the New York media market. You can't compare sf market to a ny market.

If someone's biggest complaint is his name, what his face looks like and that he's a wedgie magnet, then they've got issues.

I'll take Buster Posey-type player (happily married, quiet, unassuming, great clubhouse guy) and a dozen more just like him all day long and twice on Sunday.

Im not quite sure how a guy who is 6'1 220 is a wedgie candidate, although I would love to say many of the people claiming he is to try.
