CC gets my vote. He has been pitching big this second half and in the wild card race. In his last 3 starts on 3 days rest, he only has 2 ER in 21.2 IP. He helped to carry the Brewers to the post season and was dominant.
MVP yes. Cy young i don't know. I would want his AL stats in the mix if getting consideration.

That doesn't really make sense since it's the NL Cy Young Award.

I think we've already been over this. If you want to disregard his AL stats, then there's no way he has enough wins, strikeouts, or anything in the NL (except ERA) to warrant Cy Young consideration. When was the last time a starter won the Cy Young with 10 wins?
I don't know

Eric Gagne had less ;)

Fernando Valenzeuala in 1981 had 13

CC should not only get Cy, but MVP consideration. He carried that franchise.

Do you really believe that? The Brewers winning percentage was nearly identical BEFORE and AFTER Sabathia joined the team.....

Compare Sutcliffe in '84 to Sabathia this year, and that's your presedence. The number of games is only slightly different at the trade. Sure, Sutcliffe had the 16 wins, but Sabathia has those CGs and shut-outs that speak to his dominance as much as Sutcliffe's 5 more wins.

I didn't want to be the one to bring this up, but the point does have to be made.

Hence I qualified with "starter" and I believe Venezuela's Cy Young happened in a strike-shortened year.

Quit answering my rhetorical question, guys. You're ruining the effect!

This is a good example. However, I still think there's a huge difference b/w 16-1 and 11-2. Sabathia just doesn't have enough NL wins. And his competition (Lincecum and Santana) had better seasons than Sutcliffe's competition.

Here's Sutcliffe's competition, and I don't think they were that much better, with Doc basically representing Timmy. 1984 CY YOUNG voting

The difference in wins is your opinion. What CC did at the end and some of the dominant performances he put up narrow the gap, IMO.

I agree what CC did was awesome/ Awesome like MVP, not cy young. CY Young is the best pitcher who was the best most dominant pitcher the entire year. CC wasn't, however: He did bring the Brewers to the post season (Like manny and the dodgers) and i think both should have some serious thoughts regarding the MVP award.

The way I kind of see the Sabathia for Cy Young is either you take his whole year stats or his stats with the Brewers. Neither alone is enough to win a Cy Young for me.
