Some here may remember that in the old Becketts they used to have a section called "C-Note Challenge." Collectors would mail in what they would buy for their collection if given $100. Well, as I was tallying my eBay purchases for 2010 I realized I had accomplished that inadvertently and picked up some of my most wanted PC cards in the process.
Thanks for taking a look. I was hoping those who remember the old section in Beckett might get a kick out of it. Did any one here actually win the $100 prize?
Here is what I got:
1. [ebay:183tra5b]370316305449[/ebay:183tra5b] (7) Yankees Certified Autos [$14.99]
2. [ebay:183tra5b]230420473186[/ebay:183tra5b] (2) 1990 Bowman Tiffany PSA 9 Bernie Williams & Larry Walker RCs [$10.00]
3. [ebay:183tra5b]390148556275[/ebay:183tra5b] (1) 2005 Topps All-Time Fan Favorites Scott Brosius Auto [$33.00]
4. [ebay:183tra5b]250570421312[/ebay:183tra5b] (1) 2001 UD Gold Glove Leather Bound Paul O'Neill Auto [$41.50]
>> Grand Total = $99.49
1. A great boost for my auto collection. These 90s auto get $4-6 individually so it was nice to find them as a lot for just $2 a piece with no dupes.
2. The Bernie Williams completes his run of 1990 RCs for me. It took me a while to find this last Tiffany for a decent price. The Walker should make nice tradebait. Here are his two other rarer RCs, coincidentally also PSA 9.
3. Brosius was my most wanted (non-O'Neill) auto. Not only is it an SP from the ATFF set (70-90 copies), it is just one of two Brosius Yankee autos, making it highly sought after by Yankee fans. His other auto is from the 1999 SP Signature set and is also SPed and sells for twice as much.
4. The O'Neill Gold Glove auto was one of my Top 5 most wanted O'Neill cards since I started my collection. I had actually won this card for around before but wasn't able to send a Money Order as I was out of the country at the time. I let another O'Neill collector have it. That was over 2 years ago. Only a handful have surfaced since then and have sold in the $60-80 range. It was nice to finally add this to the collection.
