the Carolina Hurricanes!!! :o :o :o

for winger Tom Kostopoulos and defenceman Anton Babchuk.

Brett Sutter, who was arrested last week for a bar fight in Arizona, will join his first cousin Brandon Sutter in Carolina. Brandon Sutter is the son of Calgary coach Brent Sutter :o

Trading Ian White is a huge shocker here in Calgary, as he is pretty much the only player the Calgary fans really liked from the Phaneuf trade and i thought he was playing good this year

Babchuk has been a decent player for Carolina. More a shake up than an upgrade though I think.

Obviously the Sutters did this trade because they had to do something with Brett. Its just my opinion but i think the Flames had to give up too much (Ian White), just so they could give Brett the most comfortable place for him to play in, which was with his first cousin in Carolina.

Ian White has been the one positive player from the Phaneuf trade and im really surprised they got rid of him so fast. I can just imagine the backlash the Flames fans are gonna give the Sutter brothers, as any one can clearly see this trade was made to accommodate Brett Sutter.

everyone here knew White was a goner. Especially once Gio was signed long term. The Flames couldn't afford White and his $3mil salary. They finally found a taker to ease up some of their cap pain.
Babchuk is gone after this season, probably back to the KHL, so it'll really help their cap number going into the off season.

There is a lot of buzz and a even more question marks about this trade here in Raleigh.

TK was a big locker room guy, and Babchuk was solid, but most of the media here seems to be focusing on the fact that Sutter is on the club and the "cousin factor." I can't imagine he'll spend the season with the 'Canes, but Ian White could be a nice addition to a team that needs help like the 'Canes.

I am warming to Anton Babchuk though. I didn't realize hes a former first round draft pick, not to mention he is 6'5". Babchuk has great point shot im hearing as well.
