Agree Calgary in 4. Hitmen looked dominate after some early first period "jitters" so to speak. I actually think Edmonton out shot Calgary in the 1st period. Im going to game 2 on Sunday afternoon, can't wait. Broda had 2 goals and 3 points in game 1, Martin Jones with the shut out.

They look to be on pace to a Calgary/Vancouver showdown, which, I will DEFINITELY drive from Spokane to either place, both about 5-6 hours away...
I take it this is the only series you care about??? =]

Well im a big Hitmen fan and we just had a outstanding season, with huge expectations for the playoffs. So yeah, this series and this Hitmen playoff means a lot to myself and the city as a whole is getting pretty excited. But... im also a WHL fan as well and have followed the entire season as much as possible. I have been a fan of the WHL since i was a young child when Calgary had the Wranglers.

I moved to Spokane last year and fell in love with the Chiefs BEFORE they h8ad aspirations of a killer season =]
Anyway, it was so fun last year to fall in love with a team and then see them be so successful. I have my hockey lesson at the same time the chiefs have practice at an ice rink in town on tuesdays and thursdays. On Tuesday, I was getting off the ice to go to the locker room, the chiefs were also heading to their locker room.
Not a big deal, it happens almost every time i have a lesson. but this time as they turned left to their private locker room and i went to the public one, i hear a "Hey kid wait up!" Im not a kid (im 20 and older than every chiefs player) but I knew whoever it was was talking to me. I turned around and saw my idol, my god my HERO walking towards me. I model the way I play after him- Not a super amazing skater, but pretty good with puck handling and emphasis on a fast hard wristshot over a slapshot.
Drayson Bowman was walking towards me! The guy who has 39 goals and something like 65 points in the last 39 games, arguably one of the WHL's hottest players going to to the playoffs was wanting to talk to me!!!
Haha, anyways I walk over to him and he said "Great move around those corner cones with the wrist flick into the top shelf." I managed a "Thanks Drayson..." he asked if I was going to the playoff games on Friday and Saturadsy (Today and Tomorrow) and I said yes, I had season tickets right behind their bench. He nodded and gave that I thought Iknew you from somewhere look.
He told me to keep up the good work and keep practicing and gave me his used stick!!!!!!! He also gave me a new Easton Stealth S17 Ellipse Composite Stick and said he expects it to be not broken by next fall. I love when players care about fans =] (I know he doesnt use that stick so maybe it was another players stick??? I think its the stick that Dany Heatley uses....it is so light and sooo powerful.)
I am going to mosey down to the players area after the game tonight to see if he'd sign my Game Used stick!

Cool story and thanks for setting up these polls. Will be interesting to see how we did after the first round is over. Do you collect any Spokane Chiefs cards? I collect some Hitmen cards from In the Game the last few years. Guys like Ryan Getzlaf, Andrew Ladd, Brent Sonne, Karl Alzner and Justin Pogge i collect, in their Hitmen uniforms.

That makes sense cuz they are the Hitmen.
Spokane is playing in Seattle tonight. The girlfriend is there for spring break and is going.....i am stuck in Spokane for work =[
