With the Angels first spring training game tomorrow I figures I will make an Angels season discussion thread.

Just read that Nick Adenhart has the flu and will be scratched from tomorrow's start against the White Sox. 29 Year Old Matt Palmer will be starting in his place.

I hope Abreu does well. I am not a big fan of Rivera. He had an OBP of .282 last year, and batted .125 in the playoffs.

I think these are the Angels Biggest Concerns
-5th Starter
-Health of Kendrick
-Efficiency of Vlad
-Emergence of Aybar, S. Rodriguez, and/or Brandon Wood
-Closer (Not a big Fuentes fan, Would've preferred a year of Shields and then Arredondo)

I am very excited for a healthy Howie... I feel that if healthy he has a legitimate shot at a batting crown. I really do not like Brandon Wood, he never seems to do anything positive. In a perfect world we would have dealt him years ago and received someone big in return. As a Rockies fan as well, I also do not like Fuentes that much. While at times he can be lights out, he seems very prone to the long-ball and mentally is not alyways there

i think the angels should be good for 90+ wins this year. our sp is among the best in the game and our bullpen isn't too shabby either. the key is the health of our players, mainly the middle infield. here are my projections for our starters assuming they stay healthy...

So you think that Aybar will be the starting SS. I think that Mighty Maicer will be the starting SS, at least to start the year.

honestly, it's a toss up. both players will see significant time at short but i am a fan of aybar's upside. also, maicer is better suited than erick for a utility infield role playing 3b, ss and 2b

Aybar has so much talent. He makes some great plays, but then he also makes some bonehead plays as well. It would be great if he can finally breakout this year.

How much time do you think Willits will get this season? Do you see any chance of him being traded to maybe the Marlins?
He has proven he can be good when given the opportunity. After hitting .290 in 07, I was surprised with the lack of opportunities he was given last year, and with the addition of Abreu, I really don't see him getting much of an opportunity this season

reggie will see little if any time with the big club this season imo. there's just not enough room in the OF. he may break camp with us but he'll be sent out on GMJ is healthy. i like willits and i feel he could be a solid 4th OF but it probably won't be with the halos
