I like the fit. New organization means less expectations and they have been looking for a CF for awhile. He should get steady ABs there and be able to run.

I think this is a good pick up for the Padres and Petco Park. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. Like an earlier poster said, he can slap the ball and run. I don't like the idea of bringing power hitters to Petco anyway.

he could possibly forget the pressure of Hr's and use his best tool his speed. i can work and they did not give up a ton. Good relievers are not all that tough to find. Good trade for both sides/

If you didnt sell after the HR off Clemens... you missed the boat.

Thats why I dont put any stock into Baseball America saying that someone is going to be great.... ranking them very high with a ton of power potential.... like how do you rank these guys in terms of power... Maybin, Gordon and Upton. And to see it for todays highly ranked prospects just makes me laugh.

I'm happy with it. Padres have plenty of arms not enough bats, hopefully it works out.

Also, since there's some Padres fans in here. Anyone go to the Latos signing at Horton Plaza today? I got a ball signed.

I still think Maybin can be a good player, and definitely missed out on some money by not getting rid of everything I had when it was high, but I still shake my head at the thought of people here refusing to sell their AFLACs for over $1000 when they released.

Any of you Padres fans want to buy his 2006 Bowman Chrome Draft Superfractor?

I did.

Unfortunately, I had all of my BINs hit for some major profits, and then never got paid. Dozens of auctions, including 4 BGS 9.5s of his AFLAC auto for $3200, were never paid. By the time I filed NPBs for them (8 days later), he had cooled off and all I got was the refunded ebay fees. I was handcuffed, because I couldn't relist the auctions, hoping that I would still get paid. I lost over $5000 because ebay doesn't enforce their buyers to pay. It was a very hard lesson to learn. The only listings for which I did receive payment:

PSA 9 2006 Bowman Chrome refractor for $100
4 2006 Bowman Blue autos for $170 each (thanks to Phil Mason, who sold two to the same guy for that amount and then informed me, so I sent the buyer a message) - the last four sold for a total of $50, including shipping

The pants were never for sale. I'm bringing them to NY the next time I visit, and I'm getting a photo of you in them. Which do you prefer...the home whites or the road grays?

This is a fantastic trade for SD. All upside, virtually no downside. Maybin is still 23 and an upgrade over most of the in-house OF options for the Padres with still a chance to turn the tools into performance. And all it cost them was a couple of bullpen arms - completely fungible goods, all the more so given how good SD had been at picking guys off the scrap heap and getting good relief work out of them.

Even if Maybin never gets any better, it is a worthy gamble to make and one that a team like SD needs to jump at when given the chance. Not sure what the Marlins were thinking here.

BJ Upton to Marlins eventually.......

Cameron Maybin doesnt really have to do that much to be useful in Petco. Get on base anyway he can along with advancing runners.....

The Padres outfield might not hit a total of 30 HRs: Maybin, Gwynn, Ludwick and Venable
