Can u invest in the enemy?

From time to time I'll buy bowman chrome autos of players from teams I don't root for. I'm far far far from a prospector but if I find a guy I like or think will be really good I'll try and hope I can flip down the road. However, no matter how much of a great player one maybe, I never ever buy prospects from the red Sox or Dodgers systems. My two favorite teams and the Yankees and Giants and I cannot root for a player from the sox or dodgers to do well. Am I the only one who takes who a player plays for into account?

If it makes my collection better/move valuable, then I don't care what team they play for. I'm a huge Cubs fan and go to minor league games. The Cardinals affiliate is 10 minutes from me, so that's where I go. Have gotten plenty of really good players that I would've never gotten before had I had that train of thought.

I definitely take the team a player plays for into account...but in the opposite fashion.
Prospects of larger market teams...Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Giants, etc...have a better shot at seeing a higher spike in prices when they are called up.
I personally wouldn't eliminate prospects from two of the largest markets, either for my PC or for prospecting.

i sometimes collect the enemy. Part of my PC is a collection of cert autos of players who have played for a certain team. Sometimes, a player's only cert auto(s) are when they were a prospect or rookie of the Giants so I really have no choice for the PC than to buy a cert auto of an athlete in a Giants uniform.

as for prospecting, I don't see why it's a big deal -- it's business, not pleasure, trying to make a buck on a prospect no matter if it's that player depicted for the good guys or the enemy.

I couldn't have rooted for him to be good though. Its funny though, if he left the Dodgers I'd root for him cuz he's a semi local kid. Of course now he's slumping like crazy so I do like him currently

Not exactly investing but since I pulled the card below back in 2002 (it's very short printed and I've never even seen another one) I've always toyed with completing the set.

But being a huge Red Sox fan, I just couldn't make myself buy any of the others.

If you can't invest in a player who plays for a team you don't like, then you may be investing foolishly. I can accept not wanting to collect a certain player because he stars for the rival team, but if you pass up on a good investment deal only because you don't like the team, maybe stick to just collecting.

I take a different approach in my collection. I may have disliked a certain team back in the day (Braves and Broncos were two I remember disliking more than the rest) when I was more passionate about my teams, but now I couldn't give a rip about rivalries. In both times though, I wouldn't pass on an item I liked because of this fact.
