Anything in a "thick-screwdown" is just asking for trouble.

Regardless of whether or not he card is legit, those cases were notorious for causing newer cards (80's and up) to stick to both sides of the case due to the ink and gloss.

Also note that to my knowledge, PSA and BGS (I think it's both) are not grading these cards anymore.

No way that is real. Besides, the picture looks like it was taken from outer space, so there's no way you could even tell from the scan.

I've seen quite a few of these and it does appear legit to me, but I'm no expert. The case in which it is in is accurate for the period and has probablly been in that for some time. So, if this is a PC item then I would take the chance as the price is good.

However, I have a few concerns.

1. As mentioned, sticking to the case. I would ask the seller to remove it and put it in a modern encasement to ensure no damage before buying.

2. It was rumored for a long while way back when that these were being faked perfectly in the late 80's, making it impossible to tell between a fake and an original. I can remember seeing display cases full of these lending validity to the speculation.

3. The scan is bad. These were very thin cards and that card could have bad corners and edges and you would never tell from that scan.

4. Most of these star cards were initially kept in shoe boxes and when the value exploded, expecially the Jordan(s), trimming was in full force.

Having said all of this, I personally would stay away until I can be sure of the following criteria.

A. It can be removed from that screw down case.
B. A better scan showing true condition.
C. A side by side comparison to a non trimmed card.

Good luck!
