This is a somewhat unique situation where a player's only first-year card is an autographed "insert", and the following year he has cards in Bowman Chrome. To hopefully avoid argument, I don't personally consider BC prospect cards to be inserts; I consider them to be part of the set. Which card would you want in your collection if you could choose just one (they sell for similar amounts)?

The 2008 BDP Signs of the Future:
- First-year card
- Autographed (sticker though)
- Not part of the base set
- SotF don't get much hobby "love"
- Unsure on print run (several thousand??)

OR...

The 2009 BC blue refractor
- Second-year card
- Not autographed
- Tons of hobby "love"
- Just 150 copies

Naturally, Galvis cards are cheap so the obvious answer is to buy both. Imagine if both cards cost a lot of money however (a sitation that could arise in the future). The question isn't about Freddy Galvis per se, it's about which card is preferred for his situation. I believe Taylor Teagarden falls under this situation as well (not counting USA/Olympic cards). I'm curious about whether or not I'm in the minority...I prefer the SotF.

I'd say the SOTF just because it's auto'd. Nobody knows an exact print run, but at least it's auto'd. Just my opinion though ...

If they sold for similar amounts, then the one I'd want in my collection is the better looking card. That's why I choose the Blue Refractor. I really despise SOF auto's. Although they are autograph's, I really wish they designed these cards better. If this poll was the 09 Blue Ref vs any other 08 Auto, I prob would've went with the 08 Auto.

These responses sum up conundrum the quite nicely. :) If I would've said a gold refractor instead of blue, would it make a difference? I'd still prefer the auto, but I certainly see why others wouldn't. People really dislike the SotF's, and really love their refractors (especially blue).

It really comes down to the reason why one purchases prospect cards.

I can only speak for myself...I buy them to keep in my collection. I guess my question could've been worded: which do you think would be the better card to have long-term, like any card in a person's PC. The results are interestingly close...thanks everyone!
