Sweet pics, my girlfriend was there in the champions club or whatever it's called with some of her friends. Had a ticket for me, but I couldn't miss damn oral arguments at school.

We were in the ballpark after the game for around 30 minutes snapping a few pictures behind home plate and looking around in a team store.

Then we walked down to the Sheraton where we parked and drove to Union Station, which is a very sad place now. There's barely any good stores in there, and Hooters is gone.

We left there then headed back to Ilinois and stopped in Fairvew Heights to eat at the Olive Garden, then headed home. Got home around midnight I guess, exhausted!

It was an awesome time. We seen Mike Matheny signing autographs at Keiner Plaza before the game at the fan rally.

We went to Hrabosky's Ballpark Saloon before going into Busch. Picked up some awesome Cardinals themed shirts from Rina Wear there. I got an awesome 'I Love Busch' blue ringer t-shirt.

My girlfriend got these two.

She got this design on a white ringer t shirt with red trim.

And this one, in red.

Nice pics, Sam! Going up in the Arch is always a trip. (What, no pics of East St. Louis?) Looks like a beautiful day!

My girlfriend took a few pictures of that side of the Mississippi, but there's really not anything over there to look at, lol. Casino Queen, that's about it.

Only time I was able to make it I took some photos of the stadium with the cell phone.I love it, wish there was some cool/quirky diminsions or plant garden or something else that would make it stand out though.Biggest thing I don't like is those tacky "wall" of signs behind the OF padded wall--no other park has that.Skyline behind the outfield was my favorite though. Was the Ballpark Village area ever completed?

I haven't been to Union Station in years. We went before a Blues game, it was a lot of fun back then.Guess that has changed though. We went to the Hooters just outside the stadium not far from Dierdorf and Shannon's restaurant.Did you get a Matheny signature?I made it a point to go when they had some nice promo, Dayley and Costello signed before the game when we went.It was nice the '85 team was paid homage before the game--too bad more players couldn't attend. It would have been so much more appreciated if they could have won that World Series, not much more than an afterthought now.Heh, I noticed Herzog didn't forget Dekinger during pregame ceremonies.I love Rina Wear shirts, I've been meaning to buy some.

I didn't bother with Matheny. He had quit singing and was just taking pictures by the point we seen him, and I didn't feel like waiting in line. We were wanting to head to Hrabosky's anyway.

Ballpark Village is never going to happen. It's just partially a parking lot.

You can see where it is SUPPOSED to be in this picture. Right on the other side of the road from the ballpark where the tents and everything is set up.

There is SUPPOSED to be a bunch of buildings and whatnot there, but like I said, the Village will never happen.

Yeah, it was hilarious when Herzog made that comment referencing Denkinger.

We went by the Hooters on the way out headed for Eads Bridge. Wish I had known that's where they moved ahead of time, because I would have liked to eat there.

For those in other cities, I feel sorry for them. I just don't think there is another opening day like there is in St. Louis. It's an event and you can see businesses 1/2 full because everyone has taken off to be there. Go Cards!!!!

I met a guy coming back down the tram on the Arch who was in town from NYC to see the game with his little boy. Said they were going all over the country and going to all the ball parks. Must be nice!

Met a lady up there from like Russia or something who was asking me what was going on down there. I told her it was the Cardinals Home Opener and she asked me who the Cardinals were and what was a Home Opener. Weird to me how people from other countries have no idea what's going on in the USA, but they damn sure picked a great day to head to St. Louis and go up in the Arch.

Great pics Sam. It was a perfect day for baseball. Did you purposely omit the pic where Big Mac was injecting Albert with HGH? ::facepalm::

Awesome pics. When I lived in STL I had two rules. I dont work on home opener or St. Patricks day!!
I sure miss home!! Hopefully get there this year. I got to spring training at least and they are here in CA in a couple of week.
There really is nothing like STL on opening day!!!

I stayed at the hotel with Musials. That's the Hilton, right?

I still like Union Station though. If only for the history. I never buy anything there either, haha.

And yeah, no reason to go to the Hooters in Union Station when you could go to the Hooters, the TGI Friday's, Caleco's, etc, 2 or 3 blocks north of the ballpark. I'm sure that's why it closed.

Next time you're in STL again, go to Caleco's. It's so fantastic. I love it there.

And yeah, the Mather interview was pointless, and it was during the time of McGwire's introduction, which FSN just didn't show at all.

Yeah, someone sent me a PM during the ceremony asking if McGwire was even included in the player parade because they didn't show him on TV. Which is odd to me. Other than Manly Stanly and The Machine, McGwire got the biggest ovation of the day. I don't care what anyone says, Cardinal fans freaking love that cat. I boo'd Jack Clark as he was introduced though. Felt it was the right thing to do after all the crap he's slung McGwire's way.
