Ramsey headed the other way.Was initially glad to get Masterson, but then read he is 4-6 with a 5.51 ERA.Didn't he turn down big money from Indians last year for some odd reason?Guess they don't want Martinez back in rotation, and are still unsure Wacha will return.Don't think Ramsey will ever be a star, but will be a solid player.Have a few cheap autographs of him, but thankful I didn't spend big money on him.Thoughts and opinions?Another savvy Mozeliak trade?

Masterson is about as up and down from start to start as you can find.

Last year, he was more "on" than "off" but hasn't been nearly that good this Season. But he still has no-hitter "stuff" sometimes and sometimes gives up 7ER in 2 IP.

Obviously, the Cards see this as low-risk and think their Coaches can help him figure out how to make most of his Starts much better...

Cardinals have a stacked OF, so Ramsey was going to have a tough time cracking the lineup anyway.I would have preferred Kennedy or someone similar, but Mozeliak doesn't like giving up his best prospects.

I've heard it's because he's been dealing with a knee injury all year and it's affected the way he lands in his delivery which in turn has caused command and velocity issues. When he returns from the DL we will find out if that's the case and if it is, then it's a great trade for St. Louis because he can be a very very good pitcher when he's throwing well. Didn't think St. Louis gave up much to get him so it's not a huge loss if it doesn't pan out.

Oh Man this trade is funny to me......The cardinals do need pitching but seems the Price is to high on Jon Lester and even David Price. With one day left I think Cardinal fans are going to hate the team for not making a big jump into the trade field...........

I doubt it.Most are level headed to give Mozeliak the benefit of the doubt at this point.
