So Tatis going 0-5 and leaving 7 runners on had nothing to do with it......and Ryan Church's base running blunder(to say the least) also had nothing to do with it......and what about the 4 other errors committed by the Mets.......but no your right this was all Beltrans fault.

Truly great players atone for the sins of others. They put their team on their back and carry it.

i wonder if beltrans 100+ million dollar contract was based on the hopes that he could hit like he did in the 04 playoffs where he had like 8 home runs in 12 games or somethign like that. i like beltran and hope he can be as great as his contract says he should be, but new york is a tough city. but i know you cant blame the nlcs loss to the cardinals on him, he just struck out on the last at bat.

I could not disagree more with this thread.

After watching him kill the Cardinals all those times, I would never seriously say he sucks. I don't like him one bit, but can't say he sucks. And I DO love making fun of the bat being glued to his shoulder in game 7 of the NLCS in 06.

Sweetness.

Not a bad card.

* B.J. Penn vs. Kenny Florian
* Anderson Silva vs. Forrest Griffin

* Amir Sadollah vs. Johny Hendricks
* Kendall Grove vs. Ricardo Almeida
* Josh Neer vs. Kurt Pellegrino

Preliminary card

* Shane Nelson vs. Aaron Riley
* Tamdan McCrory vs. John Howard
* Matt Riddle vs. Dan Cramer
* George Sotiropoulos vs. Rob Emerson
* Jesse Lennox vs. Danillo Villefort

Looking forward to seeing my boy KenFlo kick some BJ Penn ass and take that punks belt.

Forrest is my favorite fighter, but I don't see him taking The Spiders belt.

Thales Leites vs. Alessio Sakara has also been announced, but it hasn't been said whether it's going to be on the main card or the prelims.

I'm with you, Beltran has been a stud this season. Last night's botched catch wasn't his fault.

Also, what are the alternatives? Name a better CF on the market right now to replace him. Good luck, you're gonna need it.

Last nights game was just a small sample.

the guy is soft. thats what its about, the little things that he fails to, or simply
refuses to do that are required of great ball players.

sure his numbers this season look really good on paper, but if you watch Mets games
on a level that is more than the casual fan, you realize that he does not have what it
takes in him to "step it up" to the next level.

I will agree that unfortunately the list of CFs that could replace him is a short one.

This thread is idiotic. Beltran has been one of the best and most valuable players in baseball for years. If you really think that Beltran isnt a great player, just read this http://joeposnanski.com/JoeBlog/2009/05 ... #more-2117.
The guy is one of the best offensive and defensive outfielders of his era, but continually gets bagged on by people who have no clue of what they speak (i.e Steve Phillips). Baseball is a game of failure, and everybody makes mistakes, especially over a multiyear career. Singling out a few plays to use as an example for his career is a short-sighted way to look at things that has become popular in the mainstream media, and is totally incorrect in evaluating an athlete. Just look at his numbers and how ridiculously valuable he has been in his career.

Then he'll have to succeed somewhere else, because it will not happen with the Mets.

Also, i love how more than one person has called this thread "idiotic" and then not only
opens it, but takes the time to type in it.
