Look no further than his splits. For whatever the reason, he has figured out how to hit both pitcher arms. Last year, righties owned him; year before that, it was lefties.

And the oddest thing is, watching him play, is that I think he has let the game come to him, to use a cliche. THE most imfuriating thing about him his was his repeated attpemts to hit HRs. Every time he would K with a mighty swing, I'd scream at the TV: "B!TCH, you're one of the fastest in the MLB; knock off the Willie Mays Hayes stuff and put the ball in play!" He couldn't be told/coached to NOT go for the HR every at bat. That's why he was so easily moved from the Mets, then the Twins: he wouldn't take coaching.

Now, thru maturity or whatever, he's playing the entire game. I LOVE it, for the record. He was the second half of the greatest 1/1 pull of my life (Jeter/Gomez 2007 Exquisite dual auto).

Haha, I was kidding. But someone did pay $8,000 for a Carlos Gomez Chrome unsigned Superfractor a few years ago.
