Well deserved, although I probably would have voted for Taylor.

DaveH said:lol, politics?
you realize Santana had a fairly similar season to Taylor, only at a much much more valuable position, right?
Catcher, the most valuable position for a hitter.
versus left field... the 2nd to last [1B].

The voters gave all the awards to Akron this season.
Very Cheap.
DaveH said:well, they are talking about value. you get much more value with Santana at catcher than you do with a left-fielder who hits well. so... Santana is most valuable player.

I understand they are talking about value, but the value of a prospect based on thier position is not what the MVP award takes into consideration (at least it shouldn't be....MVP takes into consideration alot of things but it has nothing to do with the value of a prospect's position, that's set aside for Prospect Ranking's & the like...Now the MilbPOY award, that's a different story as they are supposed to take into consideration a "prospect's worth" which position is a huge factor)!![]()

Blake was one of the team's MVP during first half
Plus no room for Santana
Not a bad deal for Balke at all

Dave I think you are wrong here.
Aside from the fact that Mauer is having an incredible season, he is much more valuable because if you get that production from a catcher that is amazing.
That is what Santana is doing. There are many great outfielders (as there should be, 3 positions), while catchers are few and far between. Another reason why Wieters is so highly ranked.

I have no problems with Blake but if the Dodgers had actually acted like a big market team and taken on some money instead of just sending prospects we could have kept Santana. At a premium position like catcher it's huge to have such depth and especially true given Martin't regression at the plate this year.
