We need to get him in there so when the next season starts, he'll have plenty of time with the pitchers. What's it helping him catching for pitchers he won't be catching for next year?

Yeah, the Indians said last week that there would be no callups until after the All-Star break. Santana calls a good game, but with the cannon he's got you would expect better than a 19% rate for throwing out basestealers. They want him to do a better job getting the ball out of his glove and into his hand to make the throw.

I was hoping he'd get the call on June 1st, but hopefully early July is still in the cards.

You are correct about that. But I'd think his offense vs. Lou's, would be a big enough improvement to make up for his throw out percentage. But then again, it's not like the Indians will make the playoffs.

Selfishly I want Santana to stay in Columbus for the foreseeable future so I can continue seeing him play. He's hands-down the nicest guy I've met on that Clippers team. He likes the fans, and is often one of the last guys into the dugout after the game. He stands around chatting with fans... well, as much as his English will allow!

I hope you're right. I have a meeting in Columbus at the end of the month. I plan on going to 2 games while I'm there to watch him play.

I'm not an autograph hound, but it's pretty easy to catch him after the game on his was out of the ballpark if you're interested.
