Just for clarification...

I was never "offered" anything... I sent AC a message asking him to make this right i.e. send me the cards and I would send the money back or else I would like to be compensated for the above reasons stated. I was completely ignored by AC until I believe 2 days later when I sent him a message on on Ebay since he wouldnt reply to my PM's here.

Upon receiving a message from him he asked "what would I like for compensations".... I stated I would like either $50 Paypal or a Bowman Blue Maybin (after fee's would have brought the Maybin to like $55ish or so). In which case AC responded with he could handle a Maybin Bowman Auto but not a Maybin Blue and my request was WAY TO MUCH... tho never actually offered the Maybin Bowman

Now I am not a math teacher by any means but $50 Paypal or $40 SV on a card I believe is a $10 difference... and a Maybin blue minus $40 is $15... those are some astronomically huge numbers I guess.

Had I instantly been offered a Maybin Bowman Auto I would have gladly accepted the offer...but I was NOT ONCE ever offered anything by AC.

At no point have I stated his Auto's where fake, I just mentioned it could be a possiblity cause after dealing with him I SERIOUSLY question his business ethics.

Let's not forget I have done nothing wrong whatsoever in this deal, I was never offered anything and was being ignored, yet I am also getting flack.

Maybe I am in the minority here, but I see no reason for anyone to knock on the OP. He probably shouldn't have asked for compensation, but I think that since AC had no intentions to come through with the deal, that that is almost as bad as scamming.

I don't think you are in the minority, there were just a couple replies from people who somehow took AC's side on this, and I for one still cannot understand why they would other then they knew him personally. It is of course honorable to stick up for someone who you think has done no wrong, but bateson clearly showed that this guy pulled shanannigans, which is wrong know matter what type of person you are.

I will choose neither side, but I do find both parties involved tools.

AC, for extorting the money and using it to fraudulently handle whatever "came up".

As for bateson, unless someone offered you over $700 for this lot, you didn't lose out on ANY profit, seeing as you hadn't sold it yet and there was NO guarantee the cards would have fetched you a profit. Add that into the fact that you tried to blackmail him with the whole "I am gonna run to the boards and smear your name if you don't give me what I want", you can hop in the ol' toolbox with him.

There is this thing called ebay and it has a cool little feature called "completed auctions"... pretty sure I would have made that money easily.

I gave him a chance to make it right since he had no other smears to his name... but when he obv doesnt I will let the cat out of the bag. Maybe the practices of agreeing and backing out are common practices where you are but not where I am.

BTW, I own 20 Jeff Bagwell 1/1's, I will sell them to you for $500.....tool

i think that after reading more into the entire thread, ill have to side with bateson. it was shady what happened to him by athcon. it really sucks when things like that happen on the boards. there are some really great members here, hopefully this doesnt set a bad taste in anyone's mouth and they end up leaving. if it had happened to me i cant honestly say i would not accept for compensation if offered. i doubt i would outright ask for it, not that its bad, but i would probably accept an offer. i think most members here would.

Anyways.

I do not have the practice of making a deal and backing out of it nor do those where I am, but I also don't threaten to ruin someones name on a board because I wasn't compensated after getting a refund.

He acted shady, but you got your money back. Explain the situation, take him off of your "people I deal with" list and move on like an adult (assuming you are one).

It's "Completed Auctions", not "Your Auction is Guaranteed for This".

Perhaps it is acceptable to blackmail people, but not where I am. It's unfortunate what happened there, but no real harm was done. I know you said you sold a few of your cards, but you can just buy them back, I mean they should be the same price you sold because of completed auctions, right?

But I am glad this post happened, I now know that if I ever need to borrow a decent amount of money there are willing members that I can borrow a decent chunk of money from with no worries when I refund them at a later date... nice to know I'm not the only Bank on the boards... Thanks Guys!
