The locals REALLY want a Quebecer to buy the Habs this time(if Gillette actually does have to sell) if they are sold and one of the few people in Quebec who can actually afford the team without getting a loan is Dion. This is obviously a rumour but Dion's husband, the creepy guy who married a teenager when he was like 50,has always said they wanted to buy the team.
Dion is so rich she probably has the $350 million laying around in cash.
When Gillette bought the team for $270 million he had to borrow $240 million of that at 19% interest. Interest on that loan have kept him from making any money and banks are scared to lend Gillette any more $$. He has hired an accounting firm to decide for him what he has to sell and what he can keep. The Habs are low on the totem pole and don't make money so he might be forced to sell.
I don't care who owns them,I just want them to make the god damn playoffs without choking down the stretch....
