It's not that type of busted. To begin I am not a huge contributor of FCB, but I absolutely love the site. Anyway, I was taking a vaction with the wife & kids near Alpharetta so I figured why not visit the Mother Ship. It was around 2pm on Thursday and before hitting up some girl things with our 2 daughters, I needed to make the stop. I figured for sure I would find a guy of Gilmo's caliber sort liking crazy through some Bowman Inception looking for the Yasiel Puig Auto but that's not the case. Instead I pulled up and walked in and see a bunch of kids sitting down and a "hello" is yelled from the tables. I said "hello" back and turned to the guy at the counter and said hey are you Chris, he said "no the guy who yelled hello is him. So I walk over and their is the legend, the myth playing Magic the Game with a bunch of kids (not that there is anything wrong with that!). B-U-S-T-E-D as Chris said! He seemed surprised to see a board member in daylight at his shop as well! Just not what I expected to see when I walked into FCB World Headquaters. Sorry I forgot the guy who helped me out, but he was really cool. Had the whole place packed up for the National, so I only purchased a few cards. For anyone who has never been there, the place is HUGE! Tons of tables and sitting area for these kids who love playing this Magic game. All that I know is that if this place was around when I was a kid, hell if it was ever around where I lived I would have saved a ton of drinking money in my 20's by hanging out there instead! Pretty cool that these kids have a place to hangout without any hassle it seemed. I didn't talk much to Chris as he was "focused" on his cards, but man I was jealous of these kids. Well you can stop reading now, unless you have small daughters or want to read about the rest of my trip. We did the American Girl store (I don't think I ever spent as much money as I did in an hour than I ever did at a whole card show). The next day we drove about an hour to Cabbage Patch Land! I know not so cool, but the looks of your girls faces is worth every penny. I finally got my Man license back at our next stop. We went white water tubing! Not very rough water, but on the way up the river in the bus it started pouring rain. My 9 year old was freaking out, I don't wanna go! I said too bad we paid, good thing my wife wants them to have a liitle toughness also and she said get in the tube! If you never did this what a blast! We tied 2 tubes together so I had my freakout queen while my wife had the calm 6 year old. The water was FREEZING and the rain was coming down in buckets, but after 15 or 20 minutes my daughter chilled out and enjoyed the hour and a half ride down the river. Man card back after that! Pretty cool trip overall, I mean going to FCB headquarters, meeting Chris, spoiling the crap out of our girls and making them tough out a fun but not perfect situation was well worth it.

Nice story, thanks for posting.

It seems like everyone who goes there (without the gamer hate or bias) is impressed.

And yeah, I've got three girls and I know that the AmericanGirl stuff will break you WAY faster than cards. And I've never heard of Cabbage Patch land...

Forgot to add that I hit a few Flea Markets and finally found my 1st Starter jacket (Celtics) & a Maddux jersey (Braves). I will get pics up in the Thrift store thread and let Rum151Man see if I have anything decent.

Yes, the FCB shop is great.. but the "gamers" have taken it over.. but Gilmo says that keeps his lights on..

Good read! Whew, I thought this wax going to be about some Playgirl magazines, a box of Kleenex and an unlocked door!

Any Dad who spends quality time with his girls without worrying about how he might look buying American Girl dolls and the like has a lifetime Man Card that can never be revoked. That's what it's all about. Sounds like a great time all around.

I actually enjoy MTG on some occasions.

It's a fun game with a lot of complex interactions. It's definitely a thinkers game.

And it was great to meet you man, it's ALWAYS great to meet board members.

And yes, when people come in they are always shocked at the size of the store. It's 4000 square feet, and much bigger than other sports card stores out there. However for a gaming store it's only a mid size one and we are constantly testing the capacity of the space. We had a 100 player tournament in there one Saturday and it was quite uncomfortable.

I thought it would be bigger.
