This is pretty much the only hockey product I have been looking forward to all season. Hope is fading for UD's WJHC set, so Champ's is pretty much it for me. I hit up the card shop to try out a box. I also grabbed four packs out of the open box he had to round out my purchase. And a bunch of pages - I think this mini set will look amazing in a binder. Ultra Pro 15 pocket pages work well, if anyone else is looking for a way to store these.
First up, some cool looking base cards, for those who haven't had a chance to see the set:
Two of the better base RCs that I pulled:
My parallel mini - Brian Gionta Blue Back (1:288 packs):
Some base minis, just to show what they look like:
The three mini RCs that I pulled:
My two favorite Natural History Minis (these cards are awesome):
And the jersey hit - Vesa Toskala. Notable only because UD has updated the text on the back of their jersey cards. This one says 'used in an Official Sharks NHL game'.
Autographs - a Dany Heatley redemption is not scanned. UD needs to up the concentration of their silver paint for spraying these cards. I can see the code through the paint. Earl was the other autograph out of the box, and the Mason came from a loose pack.
Overall - this product is a blast to break. Lots of different stuff, really calls to mind Topps C55. I have a couple more boxes incoming. The only thing maybe available are the autos and the GU.
